Just ordered a 2021 Toyota Tacoma and it needs a canopy, any recommendations on a brand? Looking for one sturdy enough to put a boat on top.

There isn't a huge difference in the brands, they consolidate and only a couple companies make them all.
I would think about what features you want, namely the side and rear windows and depending on what you choose it will probably limit you to one or two different models per manufacturer. You can go with frameless or framed windows and options on opening sides, flip out sides, screens, etc on the sides. The rear window is where the brands are a bit different, I would go to a couple places and check them out in person so you can see exactly what you are getting.
I went with ARE and have been very happy with mine.
You can add keyless yourself after for much less if you are decent with wiring, it's the one option I would always have on a canopy. They also run sales all the time, usually free this or that and you can save a few bucks on carpet, tilt out front window or whatever they are featuring on sale at the time.

Not sure where you are located, but if you are close to Marysville (or Burlington), try these guys.
Had them put a canopy on my 2004 Chevrolet 2500 HD when I bought it new. Had them put one on my 2014 GMC 2500 HD when I bought it new. Both canopies are still on the trucks, and in great shape.

Snug too snug pro. Fiberglass sides.

I’ve had a Leer on mine for about 4 years & I like it. It’s been trouble free. But, I think any of the major brands will treat you well. I grew up in marysville and Super Hawk has been in the same spot there longer than I remember, and I’m not very young! I’d definitely go here if I was in that area.

Nice for throwing wood up on having a rack too, or anything else. They are commercial grade so you can put 500 pounds up top. Extends how much you can carry super helpful. Throw gas cans or whatever else up there.

That’s a nice looking setup Duckslayer

Thanks I love it man. I researched like you are for a long time. (Sorry thought you were original poster) I didn’t want my windows being broken out from loading firewood and stuff, and I hate crawling up inside a canopy. Even sliding side windows are a pain in the butt. I can grab anything and load anything from the side.

Like this. No worries....

An after thought is snug top treated me great. I found this canopy on a lot in Colorado. It was a mis order for color. They had had it like 3 years sitting there. I didn’t even really try just asked and they said they would go as low as 1200 bucks, and shipped it for FREE to fife when I asked if they could ship it, and put it on my truck. I felt like I hit the lotto.

Good idea on the sides. I’ve almost broken my windows a couple times pitching stuff out at the dump.

They aren’t cheap to replace either! I almost got a solid fiberglass rear window too but I don’t have a backup camera and like being able to see through. I have a sliding front window for the canopy and sliding rear for my truck. Makes it nice to reach back in if I need to. Or throw trash back there from the cab 😂...I’m not gentle with the canopy. It has been shaken by thousands of miles of washboard/pothole roads. Often times with a load on top.
It’s nice being able to toss full length logs up there too and bring them back to camp!

Does the canopy leak on the top of the canopy where your frame comes up thru the canopy roof from the top of the canopy frame?

No there is gaskets between the frame of the rack and the canopy.

Ok. Do you have an internal frame inside canopy ?

No frame inside. It’s just the commercial grade from snug top, it’s like a honey comb thicker roof fiberglassed in. More meat than just a standard fiberglass shell... I stand up there and everything else.
