Let's hope not.

Fred Koontz is a "centrist"???
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
That's the most laughably stupid thing I've heard in quite some time.
-
“Kicked the can for to long” yet inslee is on his 3rd term

Funny how the rhetoric coming from some of these types tries to sideline those who hunt and fish as "special interests". I'd argue that having populations of fish and wildlife that are vigorous enough to support harvest is a benefit to the broader society. Hunting and fishing also typically generates a strong interest in conservation and restoration of a variety of habitats, again to the benefit of society. There's a real disconnect that this writer is trying to exploit.

Like it says in the top, it’s an opinion column. And his opinion doesn’t mean crap!
Look who he belongs to, Kettle range conservation group. Should ask him where he was when he was protecting wolves and the caribou from the Selkirk’s disappeared forever? :dunno:
-
I don’t get how these kind of conservation groups only want to protect certain animals, seems like predators, wolves, bears, lions? And not all animals, deer, elk, caribou also. I think hunters are the biggest conservationists protecting and propagating all animals, yep even wolves and grizzly bears just as long as we can hunt to keep ‘em in check. They seem pretty hypocritical.

The short answer is ‘Yes’.

Yup!!!!
If you have ever been to kettle Range Conservation page
You would see why they would like Commission members to be elected.
I could also argue that wildlife management should be moved to County ,along with the funds generated.
Our state is already broke up into regions by WDFW.
Maybe a Commission member should come from each region ,elected,no at large position.
-
Wonder how much they paid for that ad?
-
"the commission has become too political, so we should make it political in structure via elections"
Hunters should pay attention to that name (Chris bachman) and see where it goes. He also has his own anti-hunting org (Washington wildlife first) so even though he's writing under the kettle range title, this is his real pet project- reform WDFW in a way that marginalizes hunting.
He used to be at the lands council, which tries to actually be somewhat centrist along the lines of conservation Northwest, but now that he's left them he seems to be building an all out assault.

:yeah:
However I do believe we should take notice and stay on the offensive to protect consumptive users. Petitions/opinions like this definitely have curb appeal to the naive demographic in this state that makes up the majority.

Wise words dwils233. Bachman is well connected. Its up to us to lead the narrative outside of our silos and share our stories and reality.

Wait...You think Conservation Northwest is somewhat "centrist"?
Whew! That was a good one! :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
For the record, Conservation Northwest - to include its founders, employees and financial supporters, is ABSOLUTELY NOT "CENTRIST" in any way shape or form. They have been and will continue to be a basket of wretched, wildly leftist hippies with roots in eco-terrorism that seek to infiltrate and influence WDFW and other state agencies as much as possible. If you doubt me, simply look at what those people say on their social media posts. And more importantly, what they say when they think they're in a room full of other supportive like-minded leftists.

Dumb article! :bdid:

I do think they are and I can back that up pretty well.
Take two polar opposite positions in regards to hunting: consumptive conservation and strict preservation focused on charismatic megafauna. In this they exist somewhere in the middle.
They have taken stances in support of wolf culls
They acknowledge the role and need for hunting funds in conservation.
They support wildlife crossings financially
They supported the hound training season being set up
Those are all things I'm glad they supported and I'm sure, on some anti-hunting forum someone could just as easily find five anti-hunting behavior they have engaged in. That's what I mean by centrist as it relates to hunting they fall somewhere in the middle if we were to call HSUS and SCI the polar ends. They exist in the center, pissing everyone off equally at times

Yes, we should ask that.

No. I'm sure he thinks he is but I haven't seen him do anything positive for hunting in the state. At times, CNW has helped out hunting in some capacity. Not as much as you or I might want and often taking stances or having a history that is disagreeable
This is getting off track though. My point was that the author of the article isn't even hiding his contempt for hunting. Some groups are at least willing to do that and even back our plays rarely. The author of this oped piece is an outright enemy of hunting.
