Title: Sunnyside wildlife area caution
Post by: abhold87 on January 07, 2022, 03:26:13 PM
If you hunt the sunnyside wildlife areas be careful, the hoodlems are out. My dad had two of his windows broken out, some stuff stolen, and his rear tire sliced today while out hunting.

Dude wtf?? His rear tire sliced??? That’s just malicious and gross. Beyond the stealing which is also awful but at least somewhat has a purpose, but slashing the tire?? That’s just f’d. Sorry to hear

It seems to be happening every where now.

Three or four cars and trucks stolen in Skagit Count in a week.
Many car prowls.

Really bad every where.

Thanks for the heads up, really sucks this has become so common, I won’t hunt there anymore.   The gang tags and broken glass are in most parking areas.

Hoodlems are out 24/7/365 there. Ain’t a secret don’t leave anything in a vehicle. Used to disconnect my battery, hide my hood latch cable, and leave my truck unlocked with nothing in it when I fished and hunted down there

WDFW hasn’t been exempt from burglary and vandalism either.

Seems like we see several of these threads on that area a year.

Be great if they put cell cams up in the parking lots like they have pointed at the main gate there.

Must not be many/enough starving coyotes that need feeding down there.

It’s going to end up like the steelhead shuttle service
Pay to have someone sit and watch the parking area

Yea I know it’s bad down there but my dads been going there since his 20s and it’s the first time we’ve had a vehicle broken into. We don’t leave stuff out knowing it’s bad. Only had one other time where he thought he was going to have to use a pistol on a group that were pulling in and out of the parking lot checking him out. Police said they are just breaking windows and reaching in so the alarms don’t go off. I’m thinking they slit his tire cause he didn’t have anything to steal but a ducks unlimited bag with some dry clothes.

Just curious if he got hit early am or mid day.

He got back to his truck at 1pm and texted me that he had been broken into.

I feel his pain.  Happened to me on Christmas Day.  Finally got my new window back in last Friday.

I’ve never been to this particular area but is there any brush near the parking area? This kinda stuff makes me so infuriated that an old fashioned sting operation might do some good

Been joking with my dad about putting out cameras to watch the vehicle or take turns hunting. One guy hunts while the other watches the truck. Sheriff said snipe road and toppenish have been getting hit a lot as well.

Good to know the sheriff is aware and sounds like doing nothing. Makes you wonder why even bother reporting them.
