What do you guys use to waterproof your leather boots? I've got an old pair of Danner's that I'd like to get back into service.
-
I only have one pair of all leather boots anymore, but I use Sno-Seal on them. It's worked pretty good.
-
I use Obanoff’s paste and warm it with a hair dryer during application. I have a pair of Danner Elk hunters that I only use for hunting that are 20 years or more old.
-
I’ve never heard of “obanoff’s” but I use obenhauf’s heavy duty LP religiously on all of my leather boots and shoes. It works excellent.

You can also use reloading wax, that you use to resize cases.
Think it's unique or something,I've used it on boots one time it seemed to work and won't break the bank.

I use kennetrek grease on kennetreks - they say don’t use obernauffs on boots with glued rubber on the toe.
Ive use this on danner type boots with good results.

Bear grease works well. Obenhaufs or nikwax word too. Lots of good product out there, pick one and use the crap out of it. Never seen a boot ruined from too much treatment.
-
I have had good results using a warm wet rag to clean my boots and then while the boots are still wet apply Obenaufs LP leather preservative and let them sit and air dry at room temp.
-
Another vote for Obenhauf. Seals the leather well AND conditions it.
-
Thanks for all the suggestions. Looks like beeswax is the main ingredient in most recommendations.
I got them all cleaned up, waxed and polished and they look 100% better and water just beads on them now, instead soaking in.
-
Bee Natural Rain & Snow. I apply it with a painter's trim sponge. Usually two coats before the season.
-
I said this on the other thread about boots, but remember, if you go out and soak your boots even for one day, you need to reapply the conditioner or whatever it is you use. Otherwise your gonna get water soaking into them again and have wet feet or your boots will deteriorate. It has to be done repeatedly during the wet seasons.

:yeah: And if you're camping, get a propane peet boot dryer.
-
This may sound crazy too but I know some cowboys/ranchers that just spray their boots with vegetable cooking spray on a regular basis and swear it works just fine.

Ever wonder why so many of them are bow legged? Canola foot. It's a thing.
