Title: How hard could it be?
Post by: mtvro#1 on January 20, 2022, 12:59:47 PM: I have a opportunity to hunt elk with a private landowner tag. I can use my rifle or bow. I've never hunted elk only deer with my bow. YouTube is full of videos elk hunting with a bow. Most, if not all show the elk responding to hunters bugling. I've been practicing and it doesn't seem to difficult to pick up. Can a first time elk hunter expect to get close enough for a shot with a bow?

But if it was me I would bring the rifle in case you change you mind.

Getting in range, then getting a non-obstructed shot off, being quite enough the animals don’t know your there etc….

I got to within 30 yards of an old blacktail regressor this year twice, after the second time he had enough of me and beat feet.

But that’s why it’s so fun your actually hunting them and have to get closer than with a gun. Very madding but addicting.🤣
