Official results will post on Feb 20th. But for those that applied for Oregon Spring Bear, our application numbers are now posted in our controlled hunts section as of this morning. Just waiting to find out what the seed number is to compare to my app number, so that I can at least have a guess if I drew this year while I wait til the 20th for the official results. ODFW normally live streams the seed number drawing, but am not seeing any posts about it yet from ODFW. Seed # has to be drawn this week to meet the 20th deadline.
Not much longer to wait now.

Seed number is 0390062.
Bummer. I'm 5.7M (ie 57%) above the seed number in a unit with 60% odds. The application numbers would have to be a perfectly random distribution for me to draw that tag (unlikely). Will know for certain when results post on Sunday. At least spring turkey hunting is still OTC so will enjoy some turkey hunting instead.

Even though I don't hunt out of state.
Turkey season is always my back up plan 👍

I have to wait for the official results, I can't stand being disappointed twice. Unlikely me or the wife draws unless it's in the 25%. Creep has picked up speed the last couple years.
-
Hoping my kid could grab the one youth tag for the unit, regular tag takes 7, we will see if 5 is enough for the Youth, i am guessing it won't be and at least one person has 6 or a better random number with 5 since we are way about the seed with a 659xxxx
-
And he did get the and only non-resident youth tag!

Congrats

I better check my results

Congrats! Curious if the application #'s were up, due to WA's debacle?

I drew SW Oregon. My old stomping grounds, I grew up down there. Surprised I drew as I was 5.7M above the seed number, meaning likely less people applied than was projected. Or it was a whacky distribution of applications.

I'm thinking less applicants than projected. Im sure covid winding down helped. I also bet a bunch of first year bear hunters from last year realized bear hunting is hard and went back to turkeys and sheds.
My app number put me in the top 9%. The odds predicted top 11% would draw. A friend's app number put them in the top 22% and they drew the same tag.

Yeah pre-pandemic a resident could count on drawing SW Oregon as second choice. Not long ago it was not controlled, was OTC with a cap of like 3500 tags. The increase in applications during the pandemic turned it into 60% draw odds with 0 pts for residents.
I'm also hoping application quantities for all tags reduce back to normal this year. The past few years was pretty crazy. Especially on the youth tags, which saw large increases in applications during COIVD, a buddies daughter hasn't been able to draw what used to be some easy to draw tags. Hoping she gets some good tags this year, as she's toughed it out with us on some rough weather/terrain hunts the past few years. Would like to see her get a youth tag this year on some species.

Application stats are posted. 2300 fewer spring bear applications for Oregon in 2022 vs 2021. So odds are a bit better this year than last. Number of non-resident applications dropped from 1350 to 1324. So most of the 2300 applications reduction is in residents. Let's hope we see a similar drop in post-pandemic big game application numbers in the May drawings, and in other states big game applications in the west.

Just checked. Struck out

Log into your ODFW account. Under "Outcome Reporting" there are 4 submenus, click on "Download Controlled Hunt Reports". The 2022 Spring bear spreadsheets are up there now. For "Draw Results", "Hunt Applicants By Choice", and "Point Summaries".
