Anyone here own or had the opportunity to look through the "new" updated diamondback spotting scopes specifically the 16-48x65 version?

I haven't looked through the "new" one, but I looked through a friend's Diamondback from a year ago. It really sucked in my opinion. Fatiguing to look through for an extended period of time and needed broad daylight for clarity. Absolutely terrible in low light IMO.

Fair enough. What is your preferred spotter if you don't mind me asking?

The one I carry with me these days is a Vortex Razor HD 22-48x65 angled. Significantly better for a little bit more money. It's not the best, but it's still fantastic. Bang for the buck is great and obviously Vortex customer support has set a high bar for manufacturers.

i had a razor hd gen 2 27-65x85 i didnt use much so i sold it to a friend, bought the new diamondback hd 16-48 for the range and i think the glass is as good as the razor, miles ahead of the old version. worked great in montana year. definetly decent glass for the price when swaro is not needed or in the budget.

I must've used the old version, because I wouldn't have paid $100 for it :chuckle:

Check out some of the birdwatching forums and sites. Many of them have detailed reviews with as objective data as you will see. One guys awesome glass is another's pile of junk.
