Interesting if you have time. Discussing deer seasons right now.
Some of the Commissioners really seem anxious to lay the wood to the WDFW bios. Seems almost antagonistic, imo.

Duck and dive on the drop in herd numbers, but won't speak 'predator' in the narrative.

:yeah: It's obvious- "Don't ask questions about predators, but question everything else"
Ragen is getting sheep and goats confused...

So they are having success going after specie not in immediate peril so think about what IS going to happen once they change focus to specie actually in trouble. Vulnerability amongst bios that have been long involved in skewing numbers and misinformation will lead to unchallenged advance in agendas against the hunter. Its not like the bios can take back what they've been saying and or claim they were told to lie cheat and steal. They are now vulnerable in spite of themselves. :twocents:

Discussing weapon/equipment proposals right now.
I'm expecting some interesting questions from the Comms on this one.
-
I did watch about half of it.
Was busy ,then seen it was on ,only watched like ten minutes of the deer and talking about APR are not going to help WT in northeast .
Watched the entire Elk part.
Some of it seems ok,some doesn't.
What's the deal with these hoof rot permits.
Seems like an quality governor tag to me .
I don't know the units very well on quality.
Bull tag for Sept 1 -DEC 31 seems like a good amount of time to find the elk.

I am not too sure about the hoof rot permits, but I know someone who had a hoof rot permit this past year, he was a master hunter and had to turn in all 4 hooves of the animal he harvested with it. The animal HAD TO HAVE HOOF ROT, I'm not sure of the repercussions.
-
I had one of the M.H. hoof rot permits. From what I remember anybody that shot an elk with hoof rot and submitted the hooves were entered into the drawing. Didnt have to be a M.H. permit to qualify.
For the M.H. permits, they said that if their wasnt a very concerted effort to target hoof rot animals that the permit may not be offered again.
The letter I got after submitting the hooves from my elk said 129 of the 142 sets submitted were hoof rot. I would guess there were probably a few that had other issues that resembled hoof rot, but werent.

I just figured those permits would be either sex, durring a regular elk season. That's all.......
Not saying the elk from the permits didn't have hoof rot.
that way when you see an elk durring your regular season in bad shape ,limping or whatever ,you would just harvest that.
Didn't realize you had four months to shoot a bull.

I dont think anybody has yet. So far nothing has come of it. Although I hear there will be a drawing next month for those that submitted hooves from an infected elk.

If the commission doesnt use this states own biologists data and some commissioners bring in data the suits their own wants, needs, and feelings why bother reporting an honest hunt or fishing report?
-
They're discussing tribes/Blue Mtns elk situation.
One of the big points is over-predation; It'll be interesting to see where that goes.
-
Amazing to see how they managed to turn the predator problem around to make it not be an issue. For them to say the population objective for ungulates to line up with the current population doesn't surprise me. You have one elk left that's your new population objective. Plain stupidity.
-
I feel my odds are better for a WY elk tag with no points, than anything in WA.
-
That's because they are. If you're just looking for a general tag, you have way better odds of drawing WY than any hunt in WA. To top it off, I would argue that WY general hunts are as good as any quality hunt in WA.
-
The agenda of the new commissioners was on display in full glory today. Micro manage WDFW for the benefit of the predator advocates and screw the staff’’s work. We will need more help from the tribes. The Umatillas may have laid some groundwork today. Subtle, but it was there. Make the newbies think hard before they vote in a way that negatively impacts the Umatilla’s First Food cycle. I expect there to be more involvement by the tribes around the state.
-
What did they say about 1X scopes on muzzleloaders?

100%. I was hoping for a little more of a direct approach from CTUIR; but I think it will come. We've already had some Tribal managers call out the absurdity of a few of these commissioners.
-
I believe it was during open comments on Friday that a tribal rep from WWa spoke in favor of the spring bear hunt, fwiw.
-
Many years ago, I was told by a Puyallup elder that if you took the tribal vote away from any governor he would not be governor. Look how close the last election was, and how many tribal votes are there in this state ? Just saying.
I think getting rid of the gov and attorney gen would go a long ways toward wdfw overhaul. Get the politics out, eliminate special interest groups because special interest means agenda and conflict of interest.
Also, purge politics by way of term limits. Treat politicians like normal citizens. Social Security and oslamacare, no perks, no special treatment, no free cafeteria, nothing.
-
The problem is now the WDFW Commission is essentially for the most part, non-hunters and anti-hunters, who are deciding how and when hunters can hunt. :twocents:

The last governor election was a landslide for Inslee. Biggest margin in 20 years...
