Why not? There are plenty of female P.H.s in africa now that have proven them selfs to be very good hunters.

no one else notice her lack of gun safety?  I hate when hunting shows include bad gun handling.

African shows are by far the worse with regards to firearm safety.... :bdid:

I've never met a woman that I would trust with my back when the *censored* really hits the fan........go ahead flame away but thats my opinion.

It's a common way of carry over there. However you are suppose to point the muzzle to the side somewhat.

And have the action 'broke'...
Also the announcer said her shot took the bull in the lungs, but it looked like when she shot the bull was quarter too her and imho it was a poor shot to take...

Sweet vid none the less!

i'm going out on a limb here to say i don't think it's common practice to carry in africa with the action broke, on the shoulder, on a sling, wherever etc. seems everyone's always locked and loaded.

why does she unshoulder to run the bolt?

It is a common carry in Africa because everything there has thorns (really BIG ones). You need to be able to move your rifle around a lot to get through the thick stuff. It's also faster to get ready to shoot. I know of no one that carry's with a double broke open.

As she is not in the front, the muzzle should be pointed off the her right some.  People need to realize that everyone around the world doesn't do things or see things the same as we do in this country. When in Rome ...........

......potentially shoot your guide?

Starting to think this isn't the place for me. I believe I wrote something to the effect that the muzzle should be pointed off to the right a bit. Until you try stomping through some that the stuff they have over there with the rifle on your shoulder (I did) it's kind of hard to understand why in their case it's probably the best way.  :bash:

No, this is the place for you! I understand what you are saying.... carry it the way that works best in the conditions, and the way they do it down there.  Pointed off to the side a bit is MUCH better than pointed right at the guide.  My complaint is they should NEVER show unsafe gun handling on videos even if it is a moment of the gun pointing at somebody.  There is never a reason, ever, to even for a split second, have the barrel of a gun pointed at a person be it here or Mars.

come on guys this is crazy. I can not believe this crap. We should stand behind any women or anybody for that
matter that's is even willing to hunt let alone hunt dangerous game. I haven't been on this sight for long but I am
beginning to notice allot of nit picking on stupid crap. I think women have every right to hunt as you and I do.
I have guide many women on brown bear hunts and they did great hunting and shooting. so give them a break
and help them out don't knock them down!!

Man, I am hiding this topic for a little bit. One because I am ashamed that a question like this even got asked, and secondly because if my wife sees this one you are not SAFE. As far as having my back when the poop hits the fan there is no one I would trust more than her. We have been on a lot of hunts together, no not africa but grizzly hunting was about our most extreme and she was with me the entire way. Bad thread to start  :twocents:

I have no problem with a woman having my back in the woods, especially if she is as good a shot as my mom was in her day.  As for Dangerous Game, let em at em.  No buff or lion or elephant is a match for a woman when she has made up her mind.... ask any man...  :chuckle:

Secondly, until WE MEN, get off our testosterone based high horses, women will never be a large number in our group.  Personally, I like women in hunting camp, they make good cooks!!!!!   :chuckle: :chuckle: :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL:  (I AM KIDDING)!!!!

I'm for women who can and will do it, but when they start pointing the gun at me whether loaded or not (male or female) I really don't want them around me.

For my money, since I can not see the end of the barrel, the picture is taken from her left, it appears to me that the gun may be pointed to the left of the PH.

As far as trusting someone to get my back, it can be man, woman or the green chick that Wm. Shatner nails in the old Star Trek show, but I aint trusting anyone to cover my back that hasn't already showed me they would in a situation in which I needed my back covered.  I've been in lots of situations where people reacted totally differently than most people would have guessed.  Some positively and some negatively.  But it's happened both ways with both men and women, so I aint judging based on gender.  I'm better off believing I gotta cover my own back, until I look back and see someone else covering it, as opposed to believing they are there.  People will cut and run that you would never believe would have.
