About 7 years ago! Hopefully this year.
Good luck everyone... after I get drawn. :chuckle:
-
That's funny...that was about the last year I drew too! I don't remember much about it except I didn't get to use that tag as much as I wanted and it didn't get filled.
I'm not optimistic that I'll draw it this time around.

Would rather spend the money going out of state than spend the money for a multi.
..
If it was an actual permit, and not an additional fee...
.
Good luck!
.
But I can only afford so many days, and with the *censored* show Archery season has become....
.
Then limited open ml units, and modern seasons...
.
Cheaper to make one trip to a different state and only hunt a week.
.

Smart words there! Washington is a sinking ship, or maybe better said, Washingtons ship has already sunk!!!

I bought one otc about 7 years ago, killed a bull on opening day of archery season. Haven't drawn since nor have I killed another Wa elk since.
-
It's a good tag when you can consistently put in some time and you can check out some new areas when you're not limited to East or West.

cheaper? what outta state tag is $190? I totally get the crappy hunting in WA as I hunt almost everything outta state these days. pretty much every elk tag these days are near $1,000. I can hunt right out my door with very little fuel cost and pretty much any day of all the seasons offered. Versus driving a long ways and lots in fuel.

I have to agree, if you take advantage of the deer multi tag, you can hunt forever!! The elk is a bonus for sure, being able to put in for the east tags and hunting west when not drawn is worth the cost to me. I also agree this state is in a downward spiral.

Duuuude I was about to go look at myWDFW 😂

11 points for elk this year, we will see.

What date did multi get drawn last year?
-
What date did multi get drawn last year?
I think generally around the 10th of April over the years. Usually Thursday, think last year on a Wednesday. I would think this week if nothing *censored* up with the system.

I looked at my account today and it says not submitted under deer multi season and elk multi season, I didn't know you had to submit anything. Is this just unclear communication or did I screw up?

under app status it says not submitted?
sounds like you screwed up..mine says active. and to the left of that there should be a date submitted, if you dont have that, you likely didnt submit.

If you don't submit it automatically enters you in the drawing. If you want points only, you have to go in and select that option.

yup, sorry.
-
It’s too late now to submit for points only, the edit button is not working. You may have a chance if you call them asap, but hopefully they are already doing the draw or in the process of it.

I wasn't going for points only, but I thought it automatically submitted for for the permit just by buying the app. That's why I'm confused about it saying not submitted.
-
Gotta submit it I lost on many years by not knowing that

Nope gotta go submit it like you would special permits on the tag you want it’s the dumbest thing ever

This a quote from a email from WDFW on multi-season applications. I am pretty sure you just need to submit for group or points only.
"How does it work?
1. Buy your applications
The first step is to purchase your application now through March 31. You can buy at a license vendor, online at https://www.mywdfw.com, or by calling 360–902–2464. If you are applying as an individual, your application is automatically submitted. You only need to submit if you are applying as a group (maximum of two individuals)."

If you did not submit for the draw, but bought the point....you automatically get the point. Next year, make sure you put in immediately after buying so you don't have the same problem. This will be the same process for all draws washington does. Buy the draw, put in for the draw or points. If you don't put in for the draw it will automatically give you the points option.

That is true for the regular draws, but not the multi-season. You do not have to submit your app if applying solo.

How does it work?
1. Purchase application (12/01/21 through 03/31/22)
You may purchase at a license vendor, online at fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov, or by calling 360-902-2464. Click here for pricing. If you are applying as an individual, your application is automatically submitted. You only need to submit if you are applying as a group (maximum of two individuals).
UPDATE: If you wish to submit as a GROUP or for the POINTS-ONLY option, you may now do so in your WILD account. If you wish to apply as an INDIVIDUAL, no further action is required after purchasing your application. All INDIVIDUAL applications will be automatically submitted prior to the drawing.
You DO NOT need to purchase a deer or elk license and tag before purchasing a Multi-season application. If you win a Multi-season tag but already have your transport tag, refer to the hunting regulations pamphlet for information.
2. Check drawing results
Drawing results will be posted in your WILD account in April. Winners without an email address will be notified by mail.
See hunting regulations for additional information, rules, and program details.
3. Purchase Multi-season deer or elk tag
If selected, you must purchase the corresponding tag prior to Aug. 1, 2022.
Multi-season deer tag: $139.10
Multi-season elk tag: $182.00
Special hunt
Opportunities for multiple species across the state
What is it?
If you are drawn for a special hunt permit, you will obtain access to hunting opportunities that are unavailable during the general hunting season. The special hunt permit is governed by a weighted-point drawing system. You gain one point for every special hunt application you submit. If unsuccessful in the draw category, these points accumulate over the years, increasing the chances of your application being drawn. You may only purchase one application per category, per year.
Benefits
If selected, you will:
Have access to hunting opportunities that are unavailable during the general hunting season
Have opportunities to hunt outside of general seasons, increasing your odds for a successful harvest
Have less competition with fewer hunters in the field during your special hunt
Accumulate points — increase chances of being drawn
Applications available: 12/01/21 – May 2022 (exact date TBD)
Submit between: April 2022 – May 2022 (exact submission dates TBD)
Resident application fees:
General special hunt permit: $7.10
Quality special hunt permit: $13.70
Youth special hunt permit: $3.80
Non-resident application fee: $110.50
Example
During the general season you might only have the option to harvest an antlerless elk with the weapon, time frame, and location of your choice. If you are selected for a special hunt permit, you could have access to:
An area that is only accessible to 20 hunters, the ability to harvest any bull regardless of antler size, and a longer hunting season — increasing your chances of harvesting an elk. This is dependent on what application you submit and what area you select.
How does it work?
1. Consult regulations
Decide what species you want to hunt for. Each species has its own categories and application types.
Deer, elk, and turkey: You must purchase a hunting license prior to submitting a special hunt permit application.
Deer and elk: In addition to a hunting license, you must purchase a transport tag (selecting a weapon type and location) before you submit a special hunt permit application.
Mountain goat, moose, or bighorn sheep: You do not need to purchase a hunting license prior to submitting a special hunt permit application for these species. If you are drawn, you will be required to purchase a license before you receive your special hunt permit. For pricing information, click here.
2. Purchase application 12/01/21 – May 2022 (exact date TBD)
You may purchase at a license vendor, online at fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov, or by calling 360-902-2464. Click here for pricing.
If you purchase a special hunt permit application but DO NOT submit it, you will be awarded one point and will not be eligible for the drawing for that season.
3. Submit application April 2022 – May 2022 (exact submission dates TBD)
Submit online through your profile at fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov/#/login or, if you require assistance, by calling 360-902-2464.
4. Check drawing results
Drawing results will be posted in your WILD account in June. Applicants with a valid email will receive an email alert when the results are available.
See hunting regulations for additional information, rules, and program details.

Just heard from shanequa that the commission took away multi season permits because it promotes the killing of animals!!!
I heard they were making most GMU's "Unicorn Only" -- meaning that it has to be a true spike 1X0. All other elk taken will be subject to a $15 fine. And the hide, with evidence of sex attached to the sole spike, must be presented to a wildlife official at their offices for inspection the day before the kill.

So, DM'ing you with the subject line..."Multi drawn" would not be acceptable...

I thought i read that i didnt have to submit if putting in solo. Now it’s saying not submitted. Am i in or did i just buy points?

I dont think we even get the point but not sure.
Can anyone confirm that cause I bought app but never submitted because wouldn’t show
Where too and I look on my login page and it says not submitted

Mine says active. Pretty sure you have to submit, or you will just get points.
-
This is cut and pasted from the WDFW site. It is pretty clear you don't have to submit unless you want points only or put in as a group.
-
This is the auto reply to an email I sent asking the question.
"I purchased a Multi-Season application, but it shows as “Unsubmitted” on my account. Why is that?
If you do not submit your Multi-Season applications, your status will remain listed as “Unsubmitted”. However, the system will automatically enter you into the drawing on the day it’s conducted. Once it’s completed, the status of your Multi-Season application will be updated on your account. "
At that point, applicants will be notified when the drawing is complete & to log onto their accounts to view their results.

That’s incorrect and the opposite is true. Must submit a point option to get a point. Nothing submitted you are automatically submitted into drawing

What is amazing to me is people still wait till the last day to apply, then have an issue with how to apply? Its the same as regular special permits, you buy the application, then you pick your choice and submit???? I wonder why this draw is taking so damn long.
-
Yep your late your out!!! Figure it out.
-
Yep your late your out!!! Figure it out.
I agree...i have too go now to the WDFW site.

agree! WDFW is too nice, at least the ones involved w the drawing process.

:chuckle:
-
WDFW slow as usual, can’t get their ducks in a row to get the multi season results out in a timely manner.
-
Since last year’s drawing, lots of state employees are gone because of the vaxx mandate. I wonder if WDFW was able to hire or if they’re on a freeze? Could be why it’s taking so long.

Considering they have the money to repair the yakima home base after the break in as well as remodel the bathrooms I don’t think money is the issue.
-
It was supposed to happen on the 12th but there was a bug in the system that prevented the drawing from happening. This was from an inside source. I’m sure we’ll get the results on Monday.
-
There's a bug in a few systems at the ol WDFW, haha.

it is absolutely astounding this day in age of technology that this should take a mere few hours from the time you can no longer submit apps.

Totally get that, you'd think you could trust the technology but I believe they have to, for lack of better terms, "fact check" the apps to double check the computer system. It sounds like a bug this time, I'm just surprised, this New system has been in place now for a few years, shouldn't be any bugs anymore.
-
A "bug"....
Uh huh...I see how this year is going to play out ....

It takes some time to sell applications over the phone to all the guys that missed the deadline. :chuckle:

I found out by an insider I wasn't drawn and had them call it a "bug in the system" so they could re-draw today and pull my name. :chuckle:

WDFW is the bug

It takes a long time to print every application and put them in a hat guys. Give them a break. A lot can go wrong.

This is getting ridiculous…..

Not for WA.
-
I'm sure we will find out before the end of the permit submission period.....Maybe.
I am not sure why I am anxiously waiting I got draw last year and don't expect to get one this year.
-
WA can't even manage the homeless.
To think they could implement a random computer drawing and publish results is simply out of the question.

I'm sure we'll know by September

Spring bear debacle should have made it easier for those people there. They only have multi season apps to sort now?

I’ve met the people who do the draws, seen it happen, they work hard and take pride in everything being perfect. I just can’t imagine how messed up something is, it must be a big mess. Can’t see how it could happen this far into the game, I wonder if they were hacked or something??
-
They worked hard on spring bear season probably working hard on this 🤬
-
Couple questions Trophyhunt.
All purchases are linked to a computer system. So say you purchase your apps for multi season. Does it automatically go into the drawing? If you purchase a point for multi season and choose the point option only does it then automatically take you out of the drawing?
If both those things automatically happened wouldn't it only take a press of a button and instant results? Just wondering why 2 categories has taken 18 days and no results? Is everything entered manually into a drawing? It seems like there is something to this I am missing.
-
Probably didn't like the first results...some vip high roller didn't get drawn... introduce a bug...oops..we need to redo it ..gives me high hopes for the other draws this year.

everyone is in the drawing whether you put in for points or a tag, #Rainier10 @Rainier10 might remember more than me but they have to check to make sure everyone that bought an app was actually put in the draw, then make sure their points went away. It is a button fast deal once certain actions are taken, I have to believe there was a complete melt down or hack at this point.
-
If you follow the stories of Government computer systems you should just expect it to be a mess. Every time some big software company comes in to implement an expensive overhaul of anything it costs too much, takes too long and never really works right.
I am in IT so I watch these stories with interest as it shows the negligence at work when tax payer money is being spent. I have also worked with many of these large companies that market how they can solve all your problems, usually their own sites do not work right and are not properly integrated across their own company. I will just say this is what I expect most of the time with any government computer system. Now with that rant out of the way, I do not blame the mid level workers or blame them, they don't choose these programs or companies that is done at a higher level of corruption I mean management....
-
I guess I see it as - it is what it is and when it happens it will at least when it comes to wdfg
-
Called WDFW earlier today about a points problem and asked the lady if she knew. She said they have not been notified when the drawing will run. She did say their new computers are causing massive problems.
-
Still no multi results, but I logged on about an hour ago and everything was enabled to allow me to submit all my special permit apps a day early (I didn’t submit any of them). :chuckle:

Results are posted.

Not selected- bummer

Well that was anti climactic ….. 11 damn points and not selected, just the start of my disappointment.

Got deer and elk. Last time I got elk on the redraw during Covid and came up empty handed. Hopefully I can use it this time.

8 pts elk and nothing!! All this State does for me is suck money on limited opportunities which include poorly managed fisheries as well. Yes, I do hunt out of state.
-
I drew deer not elk.
-
Didn't get drawn for either. That's 2 years in a row I haven't drawn for deer.

I too hunt out of state. We can't even put in for our special permits (Moose drawing, I now have 21 pts) and know if we've drawn while other states have already started their drawings. Chances are I would draw a New Mexico or Arizona elk tag for a once in a lifetime hunt and a Moose tag for the same time as well.

I"m getting a "Cannot retrieve hunt applications" message.

It's They Them's fault. lol

I checked the back door and it looks like I probably drew deer, no elk.
Now I'm trying to decide if I give a darn about WA deer hunting.

-
Not chit for me for both
-
Got deer, no elk
-
:chuckle: must be the bug ..
Redraw.....

So for things like quality deer why is there one titled big game and another seemingly exact one titled special hunt ?
-
Drew deer as well. No elk which is ok
-
Deer for me again. Blanked on elk.
-
No elk for me with 9 points.
-
Got elk for the first time. 10 points. Got deer as well :IBCOOL:
Gonna be a busy Fall with Idaho and MT deer tags as well .
-
Skunked, but it ain’t over till it’s over.
-
Not selected for either, crap!
-
Nothing for me. Daughter drew deer back to back years.
-
Well, after 7 years I got lucky and drew for elk! :IBCOOL:
-
I drew deer
-
Drew deer and finally elk with 6 points !
-
1 out of 6 of us got deer. Something ain't right...
-
Got deer no elk. For now we’ll see when the second draw comes around
-
No deer, will have to try and get one later on. Drew elk with 5 points, was kind of surprised. Not sure I'll keep the MS elk though; I'll have to see how it will work in with my Wyoming tag I'm counting on getting. I've got options.
-
Drew deer with 2 points used in the draw.
-
Got drawn for deer... Whole plan for the fall just changed...
-
I drew deer so no OTC circus for me this year and I do my own multi-season elk with a muzzle loader here at home and the rifle in another state. Montana again this year.
-
Air ball on multi-season. Boooo. I noticed that my point total didn't change? Hasn't it always added a point immediately, when not selected?
Just double checked, points are there.
-
I drew both, 7 points on elk and 2 on deer.
-

Hmm, I got my point

I drew elk again this year and My son drew both deer and elk
-
Drew deer this year, didn’t get selected for elk. I got selected last year during the “second chance drawing” I have 6 points now so hopefully next year unless I get the second chance drawing again….. :dunno:
-
I drew elk with 7 points. I was already planning to hunt muzzy this year. Now I can still apply for a hunt I’ve been chasing also
-
Drew deer and Montana combo- should be a good fall
-
Swing and a miss again on elk..
Elk 10 points, Deer 2. I'm used to telling myself there's always next year... lol 😆
-
Strike out for my son and i also…. >:(
-
Drew a big zero! :bash:
-
For the first time in the history of multi season tags I got drawn for both in the same year!! 9 points for elk and 0 for deer!
-
I did that once. Had a blast that year. Good luck
-
Well that was anti climactic ….. 11 damn points and not selected, just the start of my disappointment.
I can one up ya Jerry. Still have never drawn a MS elk and I had 13 points this year. Starting to fill like an OIL tag at this point. :bash:
-
I got both deer and elk, 5 points for elk, one point for deer
Stoked!

me either moose, 11 points for elk, always next year! Lol
-
Got drawn for deer. Points only for elk. Nine now. Got some great out-of-state tags so probably won't buy it this year. Odd last year I spent 5 hours on the phone to get a leftover deer. Weirdness! Happy hunting to those that drew.
-
Got both ! When can you buy them? I went to the website and there wasn't an otpion to buy it yet?
-
I bought mine yesterday :dunno:

At the top of the page select Tags in the drop down. You will find it there.
The pic shows deer, but scroll down and you will find multi season tags.
-
Got it ! Thank you !
-
Does anyone know if they’re gonna re-draw for left over tags, like they did last year?
-
Think last year they just took next people in line from the original draw. I received the email last year awarding me a left over elk permit
-

Don't you keep all your points if you get it on the second draw as well?
-
I don't think they will have a second draw until the expiration date 7/31/2022 for the people who drew buy theirs.. That is a while away.
-

Yeah, I’m aware of the timeframe. I was just wondering if it was the same as last year or going back to first come, first served.
-
For the leftover tags that people don’t pick up, they draw from the list of losers and go from there. The average is about 100 to 120 tags that don’t get picked up, so if you’re low on the losers list you’ll probably get a tag and they do not take your points. There is no list to see where you are on the losers, that’s an idea I’ve proposed for a while now.
-
I thought ELK multi season was pretty coveted tag.
Didn't realize that it had that many left overs.
-

It is very popular, but in some cases if you draw a special permit and know you won’t utilize the multi season tag, you save 185.00 by not picking it up. The number of left over elk multi tags are very low. They used to sell out in 15-20 seconds, that’s why they now just ask those first losers.

Oh I see ,I'm on board with ya now.
-
It’s more prevalent with multi deer because you don’t have to pick a side of the state to apply for permits.
-
It’s more prevalent with multi deer because you don’t have to pick a side of the state to apply for permits.
And a lot more left overs I assume.
-
Yes
-
Correct me if I'm wrong. If drawn, you "must" purchase the MS elk tag before you apply for special permits on both sides of the cascades, yes? I understand you don't have to purchase the MS tag until late July, and, at that time the special permit results will be out but.... unless you possess/have purchased the MS elk tag, you would only be able to apply for permits that match your original license (west side selected weapon, east side selected weapon).. right?
-
Correct, if you want to take advantage of what the multi elk permit does, you’d have to buy it before you apply for permits. But, if you only apply for a certain special permit with a specific weapon, you’d save money just waiting to see if you drew. And if you don’t draw, then after the results come out and you want to hunt big bulls on the west side, you’d buy your multi then.
