Title: OnX issue 2.0
Post by: Goshawk on May 17, 2022, 05:26:28 PM
When I'm out and set my program to "tracking" it follows me for a short time, then once my phone screen goes to sleep it all shuts down. When I turn my phone back on it will only show a straight as-the-crow-flies line between where I am, and where I was when the phone screen timed out.
Try as I might, I can't figure out why.
Any suggestions besides keeping the phone screen activated all day?
Thanks,

If your battery saver is on turn it off. I had the same problem.

I use onx all the time, I'm still trying to figure out how the pioneers made it out west without a map app on their phone?  :chuckle:

LOL... I swore I would never carry a cell phone with me in the woods.  Even when cameras started appearing on phones, I swore I wouldn't do it.  Damn you On-X...  :chuckle:

Thank you for the tip. I'll give it a shot and look up my settings.
Before GPS my Mrs. and I used to do a lot of cross country horse riding in the Goat Rocks and Glacier Peak wilderness areas with good USGS Topos and compass.   I too often wonder about "heading out west" or running a trap line without much more than a guess as to where you are, and prayers to where you are going.

As someone who's spent a few nights pondering just where I was exactly, I always liked the old Daniel Boone quote:

"Daniel Boone, when asked if he ever got lost out in the wilderness, replied, "I can't say I was ever lost, but I was once bewildered for about 3 days."
