FWP REPORTS ERROR IN NR BIG GAME LICENSE ISSUANCE
The Department is aware of the error in the issuance of multiple NR Big Game tags to individuals. The issue has hit home and reported to the MOGA office by several outfitters. Department staff gave MOGA a briefing and we agreed to provide this information to you. A more formal announcement will be forth coming from the Department.
The issue
The issue is that approximately 1,200 NR have been issued big game tags beyond what they were qualified for. In some cases, a NR received multiple valid deer tags and/or received a valid elk tag after applying for and receiving a refund for the elk portion.
Some Details
• The wrong file was sent by a department staff member to the printer resulting in the mailing of multiple tags in error. It was a simple human error.
• The Department is fully owning the mistake and preparing plans to address the issue (more on that below)
• Some 1,200 NR are affected, and it WAS NOT isolated to Outfitter Preference points. The error affected a broad range of applicants, not just outfitted clients
• Refunds that have been sent are correct so there is no issue there
• Nothing here is related to Permits, that is all fine
• The Department will issue a formal release and at that time we will distributed broadly from the MOGA platform to help get the word out

Interesting - received my tags in the mail yesterday, hope that doesn't change!

I hear that
Must have wdfw helping them

If you drew online and received your tag in the mail you will be fine. It is those who received a paper tag when they didn’t actually draw.

Nah, this sounds more like the vendor that runs IDFG draws, oversubscribed NR Bighorn Sheep tags last year, and apparently turned South Dakota’s elk draw into a cluster, kinda makes me wonder if Montana also hired them

I think me and you are the only ones awake brother.
🤞 Washington doesn't screw up, but if they do,they can give me a moose tag.

It's easier for WA to get it right when you can count the number of tags you give out on one hand...

Got these 2 emails this morning
Definitely a FUBAR
I got hard copy tags and license
I hope our party doesn’t have to send them back
🤞

Jeez. They can't get anything right this year. Lol, kinda nervous about actually having a tag this year.

As long as you did not receive a refund I believe you s/b good to go for deer & elk general season.
I've received 2 elk permits in MT & both of the times there was a problem in the draw but both worked out in my favor! In 2017 I waited over a week to see if I could keep the elk permit I drew. This yr many of the applicants were removed from the drawing which made my odds better in the unit I applied & I drew.
