Hello folks! Pulled the Observatory quality archery tag. I have mostly rifle hunted around bald mountain and and know that area fairly well, but don't know much about the north/northeast areas like LT Murray. Its a HUGE hunt area with 334, 340, and 342 all in encompassed so I am a little overwhelmed on where to start! Hoping someone cane provide some good intel!

check around up by Frost Mtn. if ya got a dirtbike take it.

Bald Mountain is smack in the middle of Observatory, count your blessings that you know the area well.

Most of Bald is actually in the 346 (not included in the observatory hunt). From the ridge north is in 340, and then 342 to the east of that are included in the Observatory Hunt.

Yep! I actually have a cabin near gold creek station and religiously ride dirtbikes up there all summer and snowbikes in the winter. This summer looks like I gotta find a way to carry binos and a scope!

Spend some time in the Ice water and Shadow creek areas of 340.

:yeah:
Or follow ridge down from Quartz Mountain to South Fork Meadows behind Frost Mountain.
Case Knife canyon, and Hoight Mining trail.

Plenty of elk in the Manashtash unir and less hunters.
Huntany of the steep ravines tnat hold water you will find elk with less hunting pressure.

There is so much offroading activity up there now days... we took a ride up there over the 4th and there were literally hundreds of people, side by sides, jeeps, and campers every where... more so I think than the normal elk rifle season... hard to find many spots in 340 that don't have roads close by...

Elk love to travel dirtbike trails at night
