We took a unigue Coyote (tiger stripe colouring) into Timber Tiger Taxidermy (Othello, WA) in Jan 2007 to have it taxidermy skinned and tanned. Last year we were told that UPS lost it but they got it back, then it road around in the owners truck for awhile and then it was supposed to be sent again and lost and they are trying to track it now.
Is this taxidermist legit or have we been taken?

i have no knowlege of that Taxi...but the behavior sure sounds off... I lost a nice pair of widgeon in a similar fashion. I DID eventually got my bufflehead pair from the same guy...never for the Widgeon.

I have heard of them but can't tell you anything about them. Probably known about the 3 or so years.
Why didn't you go pick the coyote up instead of having them ship it again?

It was going to my brother in lin WI.

Sounds flakey to me??

I truely hope you didn't but it sounds like you have been had. Sorry man. I have heard of plenty of guys who have "lost" bobcats or got a different hide on their deer. It is a sick world and terrible to think this way but a taxidermist can make more money selling a unique hide like that than he can mounting it for you. For instance a good winter bobcat hide can go for as much as $650, and all he has to do is skin and tan it with no labor involved. It is to bad that we as customers can't hold them accountable until it is back safely. >:(

AWS, I am sorry for your loss, it truly sounds like you have been taken. One thing I would do in your situation whenever something is sent UPS they get records of it. I would demand in your situation some kind of paperwork showing that it was actually sent to your brother..

I have heard of them I believe they are by Mardon Resort..My buddy had them stuff a mallard for him and they got it back to him right away. Beautiful Mount. I think they do lots of waterfowl for folks. Sorry for your luck. Same thing happened to me with a big tom I shot...two years later I get a fan mount in the mail..not the full strut tom I ordered. It was really frustrating. Apparently the turkey carcass wasn't cared for properly and it was there screw up. I now check references and go and look at the work. With turkeys I usually give the taxidermist a jake to mount for me...Then I tell him what it is worth. Turkeys can be hard to master and it takes lots of practice to get them right.

I think I have lost a small bear rug to a taxi in Idaho. I have been waiting years. Every time I call I am told it is in the mail and it will be a few days out. This has been the song and dance for a year. My drama is "Arrowhead Taxidermy." I really hope someday to have a story like yours that it comes through but I am no longer holding my breath.

I'm sorry but I can't post a picture of the unique vertical dark patterning in the fur, my B in L says it must have bleached out durring the tanning and looks just like a nice winter hide now.
