I've seen moose in 3 different states while elk hunting, but don't know anything about hunting them!
Any suggestions where to research them?
I've been on line studying the area, lots of private land.
Is there any written by permission or feel free to hunt in that area?

drive logging roads and glass clear cuts.. its the most effective way to hunt them

I've seen a few moose this year in the unit.
Been hunting in the unit since I was ten years old.
I agree with all the advise given.
Also clear cuts and drainages that hold water.
They eat a lot,and drink a lot.There are some giants out there .Good luck ,have fun,shouldn't be a problem finding one if you got a full tank gas.

If I want to do a full head & neck mount what size of bag should I use? I made some large ones from painter cloth, plus meat bags.
I'm 5ft I'm sure I won't be able to pack head & antlers with cape.
Wish summer would end! I love cold weather.
Another question is there a lot of dry camping in this area?

Luckily enough it died on a road. I remember walking up to it and the first thing about it I saw was his weiner---looked like a 10 lb rolled roast...did I mention they are big ?
Good luck with the hunt...will be good times. I had mine made into a euro mount and it still takes up a good portion of a wall

Yes there are a lot of cougars around. If you are scouting this fall, make sure to have a bear tag in your pocket and pack your rifle. They are thick as thieves in there these days

Summary: The Boulder Mountain Fire was detected on Wednesday August 31st, 2022, at approximately 6:00 pm. The fire is located in the Tacoma Creek and Boulder Mountain area, 9 miles Northwest of Cusick, Washington. A mix of State, Federal and Private land is impacted. The terrain is difficult, and the fire is burning in heavy timber, slash, and beetle infested trees. Cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Weather|Anticipated Fire Behavior: Higher humidity levels and low cloud cover helped reduce fire activity yesterday. The sun did come out and begin the drying process later in the day, but overnight temps and rising humidity took the edge off any gains. Today, expect windy conditions as a cold front approaches this evening. Winds will be out of the southwest again which will continue to push areas of heat further into the fire’s interior. Firefighters were able to employ infrared equipment to pinpoint and target hot spots, thus allowing for more direct firefighting efforts. Steady gains are being made daily as containment grew to 59%.
Actions: Extensive mop up of the fire’s edge, coupled with patrolling will continue to take place over the next several days. The interior of the fire still has several areas of heat as large fuels continue to burn. Fallers are working to remove hazards trees allowing hand crews to move closer to the hot edge and continue suppression efforts. Additional resources are beginning to implement suppression repair in areas where the fire is contained.
Important Information: Even with no, or limited smoke the Boulder Mountain Fire is far from ”out.” There are approximately 500 personnel still working on the fire and in the surrounding area, continuing to mop up the hot edges, cut hazard trees, and securing control lines. Not to mention all the heavy equipment repairing suppression dozer lines and roads used daily for various fire apparatus. The Colville National Forest still has a road and area closure in place to protect those responders still responding to this incident. Thank you to the public for adhering to this closure and their continued support of all the boots on the ground!

Is there good camping spots out of usk? Cusick? There will be 2 trailers, one camper, maybe 2 more. So excited to have family with me this year, I love wyoming and it is far, family can't make the trip, but beautiful country, lots of bigcritters.

Ate lunch we went another spot that had buck brush! We drive & scouted Monday too!
Went back where there was buck brush that looked like something mowed the tops, with one pile of moose scat!
So opening am we drove up before dark am, took wrong turn so we turned around and found thee spot!
Walked in 20 yards and my brothers phone went off! Omg serious. I'm the youngest of 4 older brothers, I forgave him!
Looked up and a moose was frontal looking at us, great! So I called as he turned, it worked he stopped, I shot! My brother said you missed, excuse me 200 yards, I saw him turn his head back like a deer fly bit him. My brother had no faith in me! I kept saying you missed, shut the F..up!
He turned to left walking slow, so I called again he stopped just past thick brush, so I shot again same spot.he didn't move then he walked, we ran 50 yards in the same direction and moved 150 yards closer toward him. He bedded down. So shot his shoulder, I heard a crash!
Holy cow he's tough, told my brother we need to wait 30 to 45 minutes, he couldn't wait he thought I missed! 35 yards he laid on his side! Texted my daughter & cousin, meanwhile I wrapped & zipped my orange vest on a black tree, they seen it and bring 15 game bags, and 12 knives with my sharpener
My daughter drug, 2 quarters in a tarp 300 yards to the truck, 2xs and it was 43 degrees & raining.
Those buckle bunnies can't compare with my baby! My 1 brothers packed the head with cape & other brother packed 90lbs of meat, with my little mystery ranch pack. Cousin packed 70 lbs with his pack.
After we hung everything it started to snow! Yeah! Next morning My brother towed my trailer home I drove fast to get treasures home. at 5:30 I dropped head
With cape at taxidermist, by 7:30 he was happy with my skinny job for my 1st time, made me feel good. meat was at butcher, by 8:30 I was in a warm, clean house!
You werent kidding that's a lot of meat! Only lost one side of brisket. My brother did rib roll, really cool
way to get all the meat. Met another guy who is on this form, can't remember his name?
I can shoot well, but with my brother nagging me it was hard! Anyway I got the job done. Thank you so much guys!l I'm on the moon!

For Christmas I put photos on canvas, not sure if my brothers cancer will come back, he will not go through treatment again! He's been my best friend since I was born! Glad I could do this hunt with him.
