Title: Visiting Soon
Post by: fullcredit on July 31, 2022, 06:08:09 PM
New member here, from Arkansas. I will be in the Spokane area visiting family in a couple weeks and would like to catch some fish that I can’t catch here. Nothing huge like Sturgeon due to lifting/pulling restrictions, but I’m open to suggestions. Hoping y’all can give me some guidance on what to expect, where to go, guides, etc. There are smallmouth here, but not real close and a good smallmouth trip would be fine.  I mostly fish for largemouth and spotted bass (Kentuckies)  I’m a moderator on our similar forum. Retired high school agriculture instructor and an official scorer for Buckmasters.

Like @MADMAX[/member] said, "Id be looking for a guide for lake Roosevelt or lake pend orielle in Idaho". Maybe target walleye for something different or kokanee.

There are a few places on the east side of Washington, that will give you trout fishing as good or better then the White River in Arkansas. I have fished the White three times since moving to Oklahoma in 2015. Have had a great experience every time. And a couple trips to Eureka Springs. After seven years in Oklahoma, Arkansas is a welcome slice of green with great fishing.
Almost as good as Washington!

Eastern Washington has some decent trout, walleye, Kokanee (land locked sockeye salmon).
It would help narrow it down if you could choose which species you would like to fish?

Lots of opportunities, just need to narrow it down a bit!

Thanks y’all. Really doesn’t matter what species, just don’t want to sit around for two weeks!  Planning to drive around some toward the western side just for the views for a couple days with the family. I’ll check for guides on the east side. Also-my daughter has lived there for two years now and hasn’t seen a moose. Where is a good place to go to see one?

One used YJ guide service a handful of times and plan on it again. He does trips in that area for a lot of stuff. Id give him a call and see what he's got available.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my 2-week stay in your great state. Had a lot of time to visit with family and managed to get out and drive around and see wildlife. Still didn’t see a moose, but maybe next time. Really enjoyed Thursday fishing the buoy 10 area. Caught a steelhead that the guide said weighed 12-15 lbs. couldn’t weigh or measure it since they can’t be taken out of the water. Guide said that’s a trophy Steelhead and if it could of been kept it should be mounted. So I caught a Steelhead Trout, a King Salmon, and a Coho Salmon in one day. Guide said it was very rare to catch all three species in one day in that area. In ten years he had only seen 4 steelhead caught there and this was the biggest. Heading back to Arkansas now and looking forward to coming back.

I plan on Trout fishing the White in Arkansas for monster trout  as soon as possible.
I live in Oklahoma (Washington transfer) and every time I have been through Arkansas, I have seen beautiful county with many opportunities to offer. Washington is one of the most beautiful states in the nation. Arkansas is also a beautiful state. Especially after living in OK for seven years.

I am glad you enjoyed your stay, and got a great fishing experience.
You never said anything about getting all the way to the coast?
People may have had other suggestions for you.

Yes, we stayed a couple nights in Seaside and fished the Columbia at Astoria.
