Title: Is this normal or is this deer sick?
Post by: jhouckwsu on August 23, 2022, 08:46:16 AM: I know they loose some hair but I thought it was closer to spring. I cant tell if this hair is coming or going or if there is something wrong (sick) with this deer. Thoughts..

EDIT+++ This is a mule deer on the east side if the helps.

Post by: Fidelk on August 23, 2022, 09:06:37 AM: Pretty common out here on the Oly Peninsula among blacktails, if it's the same thing. It's either caused by some kind of bug or an immune system issue. They are supposed to grow out of it as they age but that deer doesn't look too young. It makes them more vulnerable to predators since the deer tends to focus on the itching and discomfort.
