One of the bucks around here is hard horned as of yesterday. He has a forehead parch that looks like a buffalo..
-
That's a cool patch

He’s looking angry.

Rubbed all the hair off getting rid of that itchy velvet!
-
I'd call him war paint! :chuckle:

I call him Spike....after what Charles Bronson called the white buffalo in the movie...I think he called him "White Spike"
-
That’s a cool looking buck. Hopefully he survives. Be cool to see what his rack turns into. But those little 3rr/4th points aren’t doing him any favors lol
-
They have started on the wetside also.
-
Interesting, seems rather early. I'm seeing heavy velvet in the high country, as usual.

He was dorky, but impressive. Wish I had a pic of him with his head turned. His right side had three points on it, but everything was growing straight up over there. The other side had 4 pts with nice forks. Would've harvested him if it was next weekend instead of last.

Good to see, I'm just not a fan of hunting velvet.

A animal in velvet is the worst case scenario to me. Nothing worse then a rack in velvet. I always wonder when I see a dead deer in velvet how cool it probably would have been in a month. But I wouldn’t pass one up either lol
-
I hear ya! My big buck probably shed his velvet within 24 hours of my getting him. I was so glad!
-
Saw a nice hard horned 3 point on JBLM last week.
-
Saw a bachelor herd with 4 bucks today, one a good 4x3 all still in full velvet. The three bucks at my house also in full velvet still. These are blacktail.
-
Apologize for the quality, long range, short lens and cropped. Smaller buck has velvet hanging, bigger on still covered
-
All the smaller bucks still have velvet, this guy is hard horned though.
-
Our local buck(blacktail) lost his velvet a week ago. Surprisingly he lost it completely within 24 hours.
-
This wide mulie was in full velvet along the Pullman Highway south of SpokaVegas.
I would like to find him in about 3 days. Velvet or not I'm throwing sticks at that sumbitch.
-
not a deer obviously, but still a cool capture. This was on the 15th
-
Five this AM, two shiny, three fuzzy. Always surprised how fast they get it off!
