Few north of 400 have hit the dirt so far. I haven't seen one that's way north of that mark though. There's a 450 down in the blues that's still alive as far as I know since the auction tag popped smoke on him and killed a giant typical 6pt. That's the rumor mill anyways (the 450 bull. The 6x6 is definitely real and definitely not alive  :chuckle:)

I have heard/seen of 2 bulls over 400"(411" & 415") taking a dirt nap this fall. One was the Gov Tag and the other an East Side Incentive Tag.

I would post pics but don't know how....

Only bull I’ve seen on the hoof or in the dirt approaching the 400 mark was the 398 bull we shot in Dayton back on 2006. 400 inch bull is s tough creature to find.

We dogged that big 7x7 all over hell. Had a 360 type 6x7 to the bow but let him walk. Hot day but man what action!

430 is a monster bull.  This fall, I have watched what I would consider an extremely large bull for our state and I still don't think he hits 400".  I am far from a scoring expert, so I could be wrong - maybe goes 4?!   As previously mentioned, that size is few and far between, so to hear 430... again, MONSTER bull.

I’m talking about what you have personally seen in the field. Not what you have seen on a forum or what kind of pictures you have seen. 99.5% of elk hunters will never see a 400 inch bull elk on the hoof while out in the field in hunting.

From Pic G3 is at least 14" so at least 20-21 anyway.  Over 400 with just a 6 point takes a lot of mass

No matter what tag or state a typical 6 over 400 is a dream bull and not something most guys would ever pass up. We knew of some other bulls that likely are bigger but finding a bull that may net over 400 as a typical checked all the boxes for us. Its a year for big bulls for sure. Good luck to all you guys out there this fall.

Super cool old heavy bull. This shows just how massive he was especially at the bases . Had 69" of mass when a normal good mature bull your hoping for 60. Bases were 13 inches which isn't where they are scored but crazy to put your hands around like it was a sheep..

:yeah:  tbar wants to rub it in as bad as they do, hence the reason why he’s quoting me.  Lol.  Tbar, yeah we know some tribes can kill bulls any time any season and any weapon, good for you man. It takes a ton of skill to do that, I’d be arrogant and proud too (not really)! Will that bull or all the others actually fill freezers or fill pocket books? Maybe some day, I can be a good hunter like the tribes…..

You just gotta get a list of your big bulls on trailcam and then cross em off in September and early October when they start getting mowed down and posted online.

How does the permit system work for natives over there? Honest question.
I was told that the Nooksak here as a draw for tribals
Permit system that’s a good one.
:dunno:
You are off your rocker. I commented on an awesome bull YOU posted.  It's an incredible animal.  You have no clue the quality of hunters there are from any demographic but somehow through your sarcasm I sense a superiority complex and if not maybe elaborate on your comment.  :dunno:

Yet we complain year after year that there’s no big blues bulls because of them…but then every year they kill em. Doesn’t that mean there’s still big blues bulls :dunno:
I agree to an extent.  We often divide over jealousy and the inability to focus on common goals (predator management) (commission agendas) therefore making the value of said bulls exponentially higher.  So when a big bull is harvested its seldom celebrated or admired.  Instead there's usually some sort of negativity associated with it, either rich man or tribal.  As long as we cannot focus, the agenda that's in play right now will eliminate the need for human hunters in the blues.  :twocents:
