Title: Mathews V3X 29 or 33 (Idaho hunters)
Post by: PNWbowman on October 07, 2022, 06:52:34 AM
Figured this would be the best place to ask this. Looking for opinions for hunting northern Idaho nasty brush.  On one hand the 29 is more compact and lighter, but the 33 will be more stable (I assume). For those who have a V3X, what’s your opinion on the matter?  You bought the 33 but wish you have the 29 after hunting with it, or visa versa…

Both will work it comes down to personal preference on what you shoot better or are more comfortable with. If you have a 30" draw or more you would probably be more comfortable with the 33. Have you gone to a shop to shoot both? I would start there.

I have both models.  I would go with a 33 a bit more foregiving and better at longer distances.  The shorter model is a better setup if your primarily a tree stand hunter in my opinion or 5'8" or shorter.

My hunting bow is 35 Ata. Never have I wished it was smaller while hunting on the Westside. Longer ata is more stable. They both will be awesome. If you are taller then definitely go 33.

I went with a 30 instead of a 34 a long time ago buying my carbon spider. Wish I went with 34. Still love the bow but 34 is more stable. But packing around the mountain maybe I would have said wish I had a 30…

I prefer the 33. Both are comfortable and can be set up to shoot as far as I want.  For me the swing vote was the is the string angle is very comfortable on the 33 so peep acquisition is a tiny bit faster with it, and the draw cycle was a hair cleaner. If I was hunting lots of brush and primarily elk the decision would have been difficult. The good news is regardless of your choice you can be confident you made the right one either way.
