35 tires slashed in the town of Leadore, Idaho. All non residents. If you’re going that way, be careful and be safe. A buddy and their party were victims along with a bunch of other people. Law enforcement have been notified but we know how that goes.
-
Man, how many bones can you break in a human body???
-

206.
-
They don't take kindly to new DNA in the local pool.
-
Maybe the local tire shop has had a down year and trying to make it up with a bang up fourth quarter? I am sure all the business owners in town love that one of their local citizens is actively trying to run all their customers off. Hopefully they catch the POS that did this and make an example of them
-
Leadore has a bar, a store/gas pump, RV parking, a small hotel, and some folks that wish they had a ticket out.
The tire store is 45 minutes away and owned by a good dude.
-
Yeah I was just joking. Don’t really think anyone would do that to spur business. I’m sure it was some local who had some out-of-state guy hunting in his honey hole and decided to take it out on anybody who didn’t live there
-
Clearly this was not in the "town proper" of Leadore. Any idea which of the canyon areas this occurred?
-
bum deal to read about. hate to see it put a black eye on what is probably a great community.
-

I didn’t ask for much details as they are still pretty heated about the situation. All he mentioned was unit 29 in town of Leadore. They have been hunting mule deer here the past few years with no problems. I’ll post any updates if there is any.
-
I found folks to be friendly in the part of woods; even showed me a couple good bucky areas.
That’s too bad.
-
I'd suggest Trump bumper stickers on out of state rigs that go to idaho.. It might help :dunno: Slashing tires is taking it a little far
-
Perhaps rent a truck with street tires?
-
Y'all haven't even figured out what to do about western wa gates and trailheads, why try to figure out Idaho lol

I've had no issues at any western washington gates or trailheads and I've been to lots of them. My truck has been broken into once in E-WA and my entire truck and drift boat trailer were stolen while I was in the boat in E-WA. I never saw the truck again.

Do you mean C WA?
-
Do you mean C WA?
To the folks who live on the west side of the cascade crest anything from the top of the pass is Eastern Washington. I think you could be described as Western Idaho. In your case it could be South Canada also.
-
Did someone wake up on the wrong side of the gate this AM????
Perhaps an afternoon walk up ole Abercrombie will calm ones self.
-
Leadore is full of good old fashioned redneck folks. Look up the picture of Obama hanging out in the bar there.
-
That’s wild , real crap move on the guilty parties behalf
-
6 toed losers for sure.
Takes a real man to attack a vacant vehicle.

That’s a no chitter
Add boat ramps to that list

I mean the Eastern half of WA.

Unfortunately it’s all Washington no matter where you’re talking

I’ve spent a good majority of my life in Idaho. My parents grew up there and I lived there for the first 7 years of my life. In my experience the people from Idaho are nice, respectful and helpful. I blew a tire near Fairfield one time. It was an oversized tire and I had no spare (my bad). A complete stranger stopped to help me. He was super nice and helped me out. You wouldn’t find that in Washington. The only people I’ve run into that were rude and disrespectful were people from Washington :dunno:. Wouldn’t surprise me if it was an out of stater that did it either. I’ve had guys yell at me saying I’m in their spot. Thought it was public land where I was. Those guys were from Washington.
-
The population probably doubled in Idaho last year, a good percentage of that was from Washington.

The graph in that article says in the heading above that 57k moved out of Idaho and 64k moved into Idaho. That's only plus 7k which is a far cry from doubling their population. Washington doesn't even rank on the graph. Thanks for posting.

I guess it’s who you run into. The few rude people I’ve ever encountered in Idaho were from Idaho. A resident saw us drop down a drainage as he drove by. He stops his truck 100 yards from ours and starts unloading pistol and sped off. This was archery season in 2020. Majority are nice but let’s be real *censored*s are everywhere.

Sounds like there are a-holes in both ID and WA. Probably in all parts of both states. :chuckle:

There a nice people everywhere and there are jerks everywhere. I don't care which state.

Apparantly there is no tongue and cheek anymore on this site. It was an anecdotal response. See if you can google this, 72%of Washingtonians are *censored*s, where as only 43% of idahodians are. :dunno: :chuckle:

Bad guys are like big bucks....they're where you find them. My son and I, our friends (even on here, you know who you are) wont leave anyone in the woods/on the mountain, in a bind, even if it ends our plans for a day or two. We have needed help and have passed it on several times. Its what the good guys do.

I wish WA license plates were easily designated by county, sometimes it hard to decipher who is/isn’t a west sider. Usually if I see the people though I can tell by the fact that they are wearing fancy hunting gear like KUIU or FirstLite. I personally would never permanently damage someone’s property like those guys in Idaho but it doesn’t hurt my feelings either.
-
You know I really wish people wouldn't lump all west siders together. I have lived on the Olympic Peninsula my entire life, was raised hunting and fishing, loving family and respecting others. We too have to deal with the 206'ers many do not have the respect or understanding when it comes to salmon fishing and maneuvering their boats when another boat has a fish on. Many are cocky SOB's, but not everyone is, don't lump everyone in the same pot!! I enjoy hunting seasons east of the mountains and I would be willing to bet many eastsiders enjoy salmon and halibut fishing here.
Good luck to all on the upcoming hunting season.

I got gooned one year as I was at a road end (Bisby mt.) getting ready to head out, in pulled an older suburban with 6 guys, 4 who frantically bailed out stuffing cans of pop in their packs with sammiches, wearing jeans and sneaks, fired up fresh roonies and halled ass to beat me up the hill. They did have fancy rifles with big scopes and bipods :chuckle:, always wondered where they came from.
Another time same mt., right at daybreak, right where I was going to park, a good bunch of mules just crossed in front of me and stopped 20 yards off the road, 70 yards from my truck and just stood there. No kidding, big shooter 4x4 in the group, I was out getting my rifle ready, heard a rig coming up the road, stepped to middle of the road and stopped the guy to tell him what was up, soon as I turned around to get my rifle, he pulled past me and stopped his noisy old diesel with his barking dog and looked at the deer, started frantically bailing out with his rifle, no surprise here, the deer bailed, he walks back to me and says big mature buck in the group like I just got there. Local guy from down the road a few minutes. Good hunt up there usually but not lately.
Knuckleheaded nimrods are everywhere.

That’s a dumb way to determine where someone is from. I’m from the Spokane area and have hunted/been around the NE corner for almost 30 years. Yes I have all the fancy gear and fancy hunting equipment. Nothing hurts until you’re the victim. I don't get the big issue with others enjoying the outdoors on land that is open to the public. Where they come from or what gear they use has nothing to do with their character.
-
Boy nothing makes me madder than people who have made good choices in life. lol

I was quite surprised at the info, I never would have thought Arkansas would be up there.

I will say that some of the most disrespectful hunters I have seen in Idaho were Washingtonians.
I will also say that Idahoans take a lot of work away from Washingtonians by taking jobs for such cheap wages.
What comes around goes around.

It's interesting, as I read these comments, with some of the internet keyboard "Tough guy" mentality about Idaho vs WA or East vs West...I have lived in all 3, sure I get the mentality, but maybe because I am getting older and realize that those with that kind of attitude are the actual problem...let me pose this to you all who think "city folk" are the problem. How many times do east siders, and even Idahoan's NEED the city? You say you don't until it is your family member that is life flighted to Harborview, the only level 1 trauma center in the entire Pacific Northwest (yes, even for Idaho). Or how about your mom or dad, or wife or brother, or even yourself being diagnosed with cancer and you need to go to OHSU in Portland or Fred Hutch in Seattle...hmm, then all of a sudden the big city isn't so bad. All I am getting at is that we need to accept that as much as we don't like it, change in inevitable and there is SOME good in the city, not much I do agree, but some and just enough to be thankful for it when needed. Keep in mind, my opinion (which I know is mine and not yours) comes from growing up in Lake Chelan (where I had to move away to find a job and now can never afford to go back thanks to westside wine money), I served in the military, stationed at Mt. Home AFB in IDAHO, and now live in a major metropolitan area in western Washington where crime is an at all time high (and gas prices too)...I wish I could go back to the days of 10 cent candy, 3 TV stations, and you knew it was noon on Sunday when the volunteer fire dept siren blew. but I am also glad UW medical saved my dad from dying from his cancer, and OHSU extending my mom's life 6 1/2 years before her cancer took her, and the WSP Trooper who was shot in Walla Walla whose life was saved at Harborview...as for the tire slasher in Ledore, I hope their family never needs the life flight to Spokane or Seattle, but if they do, then maybe they will re-think "this is my land, stay away, mentality" and be a little thankful for the "big city", I know I am.

From what I have found in Idaho is 50/50 of what you’re going to run into. We were hunting deer last week and were parked on a skid road that went a couple hundred yards and ended. Parked in the road for no one would come in behind us with a rig. The boy and I were putting on our packs to head out and had a guy blow over logs to go around us. Blew my mind. Same guy two days later was parked in the exact spot we were. If the residents should be mad at anyone it should be fish and game. They’re the ones who give out the tags.
-
Kinda like all of those Flyover and Southern states that love to condemn, insult and mock the West Coast states and then turn around and stick their hands out for tax revenues that originate in our states. Obviously, we need to divide the US into three countries: Eastcoastlandia (Mississippi River to the Atlantic).....Flyoverlandia (Mississippi River to the Crest of the Rockies).....Godscountrylandia (Crest of the Rockies to the Pacific, including Hawaii, Alaska, the Pacific Trust Territories and Guam). Our hunting and fishing licenses will apply in all areas of our territory and non-residents will not be allowed to hunt/fish here.......

Is that the barrier to east/west? Kuiu and first light? Thank god I wear sitka 😂

Happens in MT all the time, trucks with plates from the "big city" are treated nearly as bad as out of staters. It's actually remarkable the number of people that not only haven't ever left the state, but I've talked with tons over the years that haven't been more than maybe 100 miles from where they were born. They have a different perspective on life for sure.
-
I guess I probably fall squarely in the geographic demographic they're trying to keep out. However, these folks' actions make me think there's probably some good hunting around Leadore. If they're willing to commit a series of crimes to discourage others from hunting there, there've gotta be some critters. I'll make sure to put in for a tag next year. Heck, if it's really good maybe I'll buy a cabin down there. Preferably on a big piece of property that I can subdivide.

Good call Bone Collector 13, I forgot to include Sitka. Also, Quincy is a great area! I hunt geese around there with my cousin all of the time.

Idaho is becoming "Little Washington"

Hunters hating on non resident hunters is about as un American as it gets...worse then an anti hunter to be honest ...majority of the annoying idaho residents have literally only been there a few years.
Being respectful and friendly goes along ways in the mtns... its easy to forget your not a phone call away from help at times

When I first joined HW I was right there with them, I've since learned better and have evolved. They do bring a ton of money to our economy and I've learned most hunters from the westside hate the politics there as much as anyone here.
So I don't differentiate one from the other, its all one state.
But don't get me wrong, if I could vote for my county to join Idaho I'd ditch the wetside in a nanosecond!
-
I'd live on the east side...I could actually afford a house over there. Not sure the east side can provide me with a similar job, similar pay, and similar job security.

Made me nervous when I saw this thread pop back up again. Thankful it wasn’t chatter about the OP’s original comments. Lol. Heading to Leadore to chase elk with muzzleloader starting next Tuesday and I’m hoping all of my tires stay intact. Fingers crossed!

I grew up in Idaho and relatively close by to Leadore, hunted around there often. Life happened, moved around a lot and finally went back in 2020 with hopes of reviving my childhood memories :chuckle:. What I saw, was insane compared to what I grew up with, the amount of out of staters and clogging up every trailhead was crazy! It was rare to come across anybody out here in my youth, now it's packed. I've had my fair share of head shakes at out of staters, but this is ridiculous and disgraceful. I'm just happy I still had ID plates when I went back!
