Title: Do you have a heated vest?
Post by: trophyhunt on October 18, 2022, 05:34:03 AM
The wife was asking me about heated vests and I just have no thoughts on them?? Do any of you guys or your wives run those battery powered heated vest?  We were just talking about it and without looking them up, adds for them popped up all over on my Facebook (that’s another subject).  We will prob use my grizzly 700 quad for the late moose hunt and I know the temps can be brutal over there, I was wondering if the vest is worth it?  I have a layer system for her, thinking the hot pads will work just fine, and if you guys have the vest, did you buy extra batteries?  Thanks

I have the Milwaukee jacket and absolutely love it. They’re substantially more expensive than Amazon but you could use a power tool battery to USB adapter that will let you get better battery life

A cold wife isn't usually a happy wife.......

I don't have one, but with a oil tag, I'd go all out!

I always run hot (read i’m fat) but my folks who do not run hot love the ororo heated vests we got them. on low battery gets about 6 hours on high 2. I do use the heated gloves for duck hunting on cold days and they are worth the $$

My wife has a heated jacket and seams to like it.  It is now three years old and still works.  Bought my son a pair of heated gloves this and they work pretty darn good as well.  The gloves were purchased at costco for 100 bucks.

What unit is her late moose tag in?

kettle range, went out in the early season and had a blast, just too warm and didn’t see a bull we wanted.

My guess is that she will be saddled up behind you and using you for a wind break.

yes sir!  Figured if it’s snowy and ice’y the quad would be easier running around on those roads.

:yeah: I have two of these jackets. Absolutely love them. I carry a few extra M12 batteries with my in my hunting pack and when I get cold, I just turn the jacket on instead of carrying extra layers and constantly layering up or down

I got the Gobi heated vest for my wife for Christmas last year and she absolutely loves it. Great for camping and outdoor stuff, she even wears it in the house instead of turning the heat up sometimes.

I decided to get my own but went with the camo hunting jacket thing they have and I am not very happy with it. I think a vest or something that fits tighter to the body works much better than a jacket. If I am wearing just a tee shirt I stay warm and feel the heat, but if I have a thicker shirt or layers under the jacket it's hard to feel the warmth and it seems like it's a waste.

If I was to do it again I would get myself the vest, might still get one this winter, we will see.

I received the Foxelli ? heated hooded vest as a gift and I can say I like it a lot, sizes run a bit small but I layer with it near the core.

I bought one last year and used it on my Idaho hunts.  Laying or sitting on the edge of the timber by wheat fields in the evening is my go to.  The ground is always wet and cold.  The heated vest was the best hunting investment I have made.  Yoga mat to keep me out of the mud and dry and turn on the vest when the first shiver starts.  Totally comfortable even in terrible conditions.

I keep extra m12’s just for the jacket and then keep a few 6ah Makita 18v with a USB adapter at camp for my devices. I was on the fence between the hooded waterproof jacket and the vest, I opted for the jacket for work and will look into the vest for hunting.
