The beaver has a cottonwood that’s probably about 15-18” across chewed through 1/3 of the way but the trapper said the state wouldn’t do anything about the tree until it caused a problem. 3-4 years ago we had a beaver take a tree down in the same place. It landed on 3 customers cars and totaled one of them.

What? Why do you post on this site? Seems like a nice little FYI on having a USDA trapper in your neighborhood working for the government and why you might see a sign similar to this and why you shouldn't let your pets run free in some situations. Plenty of reasons to post. I found it informative. :dunno:

I think this is a great topic. APHIS works for the public. I also feel like it highlights the need for management. The AR crowd only stands to lose by tampering with his set. He is responsible and responsive so I don't think he's too worried. I hope this type of information is widely disseminated actually, this worked is necessary to maintain infrastructure.Curious what the point of this post is?Wow.

I thought the USDA Trappers weren't supposed to compete with local trappers.
Oh ............... :bash:................ I've been fighting that issue for years when I was in business.
Beaver trapping is not the only thing they do ! They trap beaver throughout the state.
They also go in at night and shot nutria on lake Washington and shot coyotes throughout the cities not just King county.
BUT "they are needed," since trappers won't step up to the plate and go into the cities.
I would that is why I was in business for 30+ years
Do you want to compete with them?
Well then get your name out there, become legal in every way and understand all state and federal laws including the city codes.
Buy all town & city licenses and pay into Labor and Industries.
If trappers won't then someone will have to fill in that void and that comes back to the Federal guys.
I was told from the USDA-APHIS-WS if the WCO had a association here, they would back off because the association could force them to,
but there is no WCO association sooooooo :dunno:
