Title: S&W 30SC
Post by: asmith on November 14, 2022, 12:25:41 PM
So, I won a new pistol at our local NRA dinner/auction this last weekend.  The Smith and Wesson 30 Super Carry.  It was a surprise drawing, as nobody knew what was in the box.

This is a new round to me, so wondering if anyone has had the chance to shoot one yet?  Any thoughts or comments on it?  With my googlefu, I was able to do a little research on it and it doesn't look to bad.  Ammo is about the same price as the 9mm as well.

Now, I just need to see how this lil fella fits in the hands and go from there.  Need to decide if I want another caliber in the house or just to sell it.

It shoots a lighter bullet then the 9mm but it shoots a little faster so I suppose recoil should maybe be a little less and less recoil allows you to get back on target faster so that's a good thing but having never shot one I don't know if it'd even be noticeable.  Ballistics seem about the same-ish between the 30SC and 9mm.  My wife doesn't shoot a great deal so she's no particular fan of recoil and if this new 30SC has a little less recoil then it also may have a little softer spring and make racking the slide easier so I could see that being a benefit for some shooters.

Run a few boxes of ammo through it and then you can give us a report of the pros and cons.

Which model S&W is it, a Shield plus or Shield EZ, or ??

My daily CCW is a PC Shield that I've had since they first came out and I like it a lot.

I have no idea which model it is yet, I didnt pay that much attention for the few seconds I held it.  Still waiting on the paperwork to clear me so I can pick it up.  It does have the grip safety, so im assuming its the EZ, based on what ive seen online.
