My dad (73) drew the late Alta tag after 21 years. We had a great plan until 30 inches of snow hit the valley. Most roads are plowed shut. We have been here since last Thursday. Most deer we have seen are on private land. Also Golden doe area doesn't have much. Any help or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

Have you called any snowmobile rental places?
Not cheap but may be the only way to go.

I checked on that earlier in the week should have bit the bullet.

Do you have OnX?

What about chaining up all fours? How is dads mobility?

Buddy just sent me this.
This deer walked by his friends house in Twisp.

That’s surprising the golden doe doesn’t have deer. When I had tag there was no snow and you could walk up to the highest peaks still and there was probably 100 deer in that area. Shot my buck out of it

The one spot in the world where I have seen a blacktail, mule deer and whitetail in the same spot :chuckle:

I don’t need to tell anybody but the Methow is hurting as far as deer numbers go. Cats, more wolves and an exploding bear population are wiping out the herd. Cats and wolves year round the bears hammering fawns in the spring. Hang in there, there’s still a dandy here and there. Weather is your friend and this year it really is. Just not a lot of deer to push down anymore. There’s been some good advice about snow mobiles etc. Something to consider.
