So after only 14 short months (appx) I finally got the age back on my bull from last year. Now that I know what it is just seeing what other peoples guesses are on the age. I figure I will let this go for a day or two to see what others come up with for guesses before I let the number out of the bag.
Here is two pictures to formulate a guess from.
Let the guesses begin.

Elk seem to take longer than deer to get big antlers so I will guess that he is 10 years old. Great bull by the way!
-
9.5

Elk get a lot older than deer. That roman nose says 12+ to me...

Bulls prime years are 7.5 to 9.5

13yr -- 1 person
12.5yr -- 1 person
11.5yr -- 1 person
11yr ---- 1 person
10.5yr -- 2 people
10yr ---- 2 people
9.5yr --- 2 people
9yr ----- 3 people
8.5yr --- 6 people
8yr ----- 1 person
7.5yr --- 3 people
7yr ----- 1 person
6.5yr -- 2 people
6yr ---- 1 person
I was thinking 8yrs myself before I got the age back. Sufficed to say we are all wrong per the game department (or at least whatever lab they send it too). The answer is 🥁🥁🥁🥁!!!

I say 5.5
-
Never thought a 372-7/8 Gross bull with 63-4/8 mass would be this young but I guess it happens or they aged the wrong tooth.
-
Great genetics in there for sure. i guessed 8 1/2
-
1 dollar Bob
-
That is a great bull. I would have guessed he was a year or two older...

Very cool, thanks for sharing.
-
Wow. Hard to believe that bull is only 5
-
I wouldn’t trust the tooth aging much but my guess would have been 6.5-7.5. At that point they just don’t really grow much. That’s still a pretty old bull as I would guess the average lifespan is more like 3.5.
-
One would only wonder if he was survived until 8 - 10 years how big his rack would be.
-
I just got mine back from my bull shot just before yours.
-
.
-
Milo Hansen's world record Whitetail was only 4 1/2 years old. It happens.

Dang yours was older than mine. I really thought it was going to be the other way around.

I was shocked the bear I shot just before the bull was 8. The deer from 2014 was an old warrior, 8 made sense for him.

Compare Rainiers10 bulls head to farmers you can see the age difference

I know one thing for sure……
Neither one of these bulls is getting any older.

Both nice bulls, congrats to both of you.

Congrats, both left around long enough to pass a bunch of that along. Great share!!

It's a special permit so y do some people not tell what gmu it was. It's not like it matters.
-
I think it would be crazy for a bull elk to live 10 years because they spend lot more time by themselves or just a few others. Less eyes noesis to help them survive
-
And then they spend a month or two losing weight just before food quality and quantity dives, eight is old

It matters because then everyone on the internet suddenly puts in for that tag and impossible to draw tags become impossible x 2 until the next guy spills the name of his honey hole and everyone starts putting in for that tag...
Posting unit numbers on an internet forum is never a good idea...

Anyone can spend an hour or two studying the harvest reports on where the highest number and size of bulls are killed. ;) Unless you don't give accurate information there. :dunno:
