Biologists report to…….?
-
I could be wrong, but don't the biologists report within WDFW, then the WDFW updates the commission for their input and decisions?
-
Might be a good question (one of many) for the guy whos had enough before he is gone....

From what I was told you are correct.

The commission has 2 employees, the director and Nikki
-
Biologist to directors of region. Directors of region to deputy director, deputy director to the director, and she to the commission. Does that sound accurate?

Nope. The Regional Directors are simply figureheads who mainly deal with political issues. A field wildlife Bio will report to a regional wildlife bio who reports to the HQ wildlife bio.
The only person who truly reports to the Commission is the Director. But of course every WDFW employee eventually reports to the Director via chain of command.

So field biologists to district biologist (17 of them) to whom.

Regional Program Manager
-
As stated above, District Bios report to RPMs in terms of supervision or chain of command.
But, the bios make harvest recommendations - based on surveys, harvest data, damage issues, etc... - to the Section Managers (e.g. Ungulate, Carnivore, Waterfowl) who work out of out of Oly. These recommendations can get massaged a bit before they go to the commission, then well... we're seeing what can happen next
-
THankyou guys for the information.
So if I have 17 district biologists. How many of them reported to their RPMs that Spring bear hunting needed to end due to the lack of bears or whatever the reason was? Or how many RPMs reported to the top that Spring bear had to end. or
DID the commission take it upon themselves to ignore all input and end it themselves. I think we all know the answer to that. If so, why do we employ these biologists, the RPMs and possibly 1600 off the 1800 employees that work under our director.

This should answer your questions Bone
This is what we're up against folks, in your face.
"WDFW staff: the population and science supports a spring hunt

So there you have it.

AND she was So pissed she transferred out of the WDFW as a result of this stupidity! I would also add that I don't think she was necessarily a huge friend or proponent of predator management. She left this state went to another then came back. she was so pissed she moved to a different department. AND In my opinion wasn't a huge supporter of aggressive predator management. either that means my assessment is wrong OR this state is oblivious to management your call.

The comission is putting unrealistic conditions and stipulations on the work the WDFW bios have put out, which isn't at all sub-par, but rather industry standard acceptable practices. The comission pokes holes in the science, then drives through the agenda.
We can't win
-
They get a lot of there info from us. So maybe we need to just stop giving them info. If the Commission ignores it any ways. The down side of doing that can’t be any worse. Can it?
-
It's who ever they need a report from.
It could be your district biologists,or a big game biologists.
Or any assistant biologists or our governor, who freaking knows.
-
If memory serves me on the commission meetings aren't some of the Biologists for a particular topic like spring bear or Blues brought in to present? However the commission always seems to blow them off, Or question their information. Which is a ploy to discredit any of it for their own personal agendas.
-
So there you have it.
So why did you start this thread? To discourage hunters? Serious questions, I realize where we are with the current commission but also see the hunters voice being in places where it's been absent.

Speaking for myself, I don't see a way forward.
Toss money at conservation groups, they lobby, and nothing changes except now you have a lighter wallet.
I'm all ears Tbar

I agree.
I'd rather spend the money on.....

Well, I vote as hard as I can on the ballots, I join groups, I write the comission, I do the polls, I provide public commentary when its open.
I could do more I suppose, I could go to banquets, win rifles and buy expensive dinners, join more groups
To what end?
The system is rigged, the only path forward, is backwards.

I'm already willing to just hand over wildlife rules to Hilary Franz.
Commission needs to just go,be done, thank you for your service ,your retired now. Go met and greet at Wal-Mart.
Just combine DNR and WDFW.

The Anti hunters want you demoralized and want a merger between Parks and WDFW so that the AR groups can steal more of sportsmens money.

Eventually Inslee will go so far left even this state votes for someone else, that is the point when hopefully positive changes can be made, until Inslee is out it's going to be painful. This commission is an Inslee commission!
-
We had the opportunity to flip the state Senate and that could have been a road to change.. But if not Some legislative laws could change some of the Commission appointment processes. Not Sure how helpful that is with out some kind of balance of power.

This is what I mean by go backwards, the left self implodes.
Until then, wake me up when Inslee is gone!

:yeah:
Ya until insleez is gone its all just wishful thinking, wishing in one hand and so forth.

I don't know man,if I'm buying what your selling.
Commission and governor are the problem,we have to agree on that.
By combining DNR and WDFW, Commission is gone.
Then all we have to worry about is who is Commissioner of DNR.
They already are stealing our money. :dunno:
-
It's laid out in thier plan for all to read. Wildlife for all is a coalition of anti hunting groups and if you. Read about them thier game plan is being executed in this state.

R we talking about this.
Quoted from your link.
Ask how the commission and agency are preparing for passage of the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act, how much matching funds the state will need to provide, where that money will come from, and how many non-game biologists the agency will need to hire.
Dang animal racists.
Why can't we help game animals.

Everything they talk about is to diminish hunters influence.
