Howdy All,
It's been awhile since I posted, but have a question for you folks...
I have a friend that has been bugging me for years to sell him my Bighorn. IF I sell it I was thinking of replacing it with an CVA Optima. I don't keep tabs on all the new ML technology and their features, etc, but I know a lot of you do.
What are your thoughts between the two? And should I make the change?
Thanks in advance!
Joe

I had a Bighorn and sold it a few years ago to a guy on this board. I liked it and it was accurate but did not love the inline bolt. I have a Knight Western Disc extreme now and like the bolt.
Because I usually hunt in bad weather I am always taking the CVA Optima out. It is ugly (black plastic hardware and stainless steel barrel) but the break open action and easy to remove breech plug is pretty nice. Very easy to clean and much cheaper than a Knight. If you go that route try to get the nitride barrel.
Both are as accurate as I can get with a peep sight. I shoot Hornady XTP 240 grain bullets out of both with BH 209 powder. Good luck.

I have the CVA Accura which is pretty close to the Optima and a knight bighorn. I find myself taking my Bighorn out for walks in the woods while the Accura stays in the Safe. My Bighorn is way to accurate to leave at home.

My dad has a bighorn and I have the disc extreme with the thumb hole stock. Both shoot very accurately.

I’d stick with the bighorn, especially if it’s already set up for you. I have a thumbhole stock on mine and it is so well balanced and accurate, I don’t think I’d ever not use it

I started out a cva guy and now I have 5 knights , I wouldn’t sell any knight they’re way too accurate

My bighorn with a thumb hole stock and Williams peep has never let me down. Switched to 209 primers this year and it killed a bull at 85 yards and a mule deer at 135 yards. I've thought about switching to the accura or optima but why switch when you have something that proves itself time after time.

Thanks for all the input guys. Much appreciated.

I have had cva, knight and thompson center inlines! Hands down my favorite is my CVA accura v2. Optima is very similar. Shoulders very well, shoots straight and is super simple to breakdown without tools!

Knight bighorn gets my vote! I have two of them and they are very accurate .

My son just bought a CVA Optima v2. Im very impressed. Especially like the removable breach plug. Im buying one now soon. I have a old Lyman deerstalker. never owned a Knight thou so can not compare for ya

Own 2 disc extreme's, used musket and percussion caps, thumbhole stocks, love em, very accurate. I was going to get a bighorn as that was recommended to me, but it was at a time when muzzy's were hard to find, so had to go disc extreme, which has worked out well. I'd keep it.
