-
weak fronts, no good length. wont score well :sas: :sas: sorry , had to say it before anyone else.that bull is awesome
-
That one has some moose genes in him! :yike:
-
or mountain caribou :chuckle:
-
some of the leafs have turned and the one guy has a bugle. is that normal for that area??
-
yeah, lots of coloration , the heat alone turns some of the brush red, orange by late august, leaves begin turning about 2 weeks earlier than spokane area
-
Very cool looking rack. It would be sweet to find out the whole story behind the elk.
-
My wife was looking over my shoulder. She doesn't think they look very happy. I just explained the process of packing an 800 lb bull out of a remote area.. :chuckle:
-
Yeah they dont lol. The widest point on there is 15" wide the palmation :o
-
Thats a sweet bull
-
They get alot bigger than that up there.. Damn nice bull though!@
-
"yeah, lots of coloration , the heat alone turns some of the brush red, orange by late august, leaves begin turning about 2 weeks earlier than spokane area"
Plants in our zone do not change hue by temp.
Check your elevation and amount of daylight which is normally associated with the date on the calendar...heat has virtually nothing to do with plants turning color...unless it is on fire. Just sayin.
Hence the call on the picture...
-
I know that, but the brush in that area dries up in august, turns red and bone dry I was explaining that in the pic, area has lots of color come late August
-
Not heat alone I should say...takes a significant drop in temp as well as heat to create a scenario whereas plants change color sooner or later...best to trust length of daylight....
-
well thanks for the explanations. i would like to hear the story one day.dandy elk thats for sure
-
Can't see the pic since I am at work, but looking forward to it. It sound slike a bull I might have seen in the general geographic area. If it is I'll crap a chicken.
-
It really looks like a westside bull. Dark horns, rain, thick cover, rain, oh and rain. Besides there aren't any good bulls east of North Bend.
Klickman
-
caribou esk Bone
the elk in this part of the state get very dark antlers, extremely thick
-
lot of rumors surrounding this bull and if it tells you anything cabelas will not display it...
-
sweet bull
-
Looks like a Zarumbo (spelling) bull. It's a island up in SE that used to produce some really palmated horns. Couple friends of mine have drawn tags and one has a bull very similar to that one.
-
shane do you know anymore of the story?
-
well a very good friend saw the pic today, he is devasted, this bull was hitting his wallow last year, saw the bull 2 yrs in a row, a friend of his has sheds of this bull, was keeping it quiet. I know now for sure where this bul was taken ;) I do not know anymore, I have no idea of score
-
That sure is one nice lookin bull. Lots of character.
-
He won't score very good but he sure is an incredible bull!! Score is just a number. I would take him over a bull that scored a lot more! Talk about character! Thanks for posting Shane!
-
WOW!!!!!!!!!!
-
lot of rumors surrounding this bull and if it tells you anything cabelas will not display it...
so whats the rest of the story on this bull?
someone needs to learn how to take photos....
-
No doubt
-
Very cool bull! What's the scoop on it?
-
All I know, is last years archery kill taken in NE WA

The guy that shot the bull works with me. He is in process of moving west. He said when he gets settled in he will log on and tell his story.
-
should be interesting to hear the story.
-

-
Me too!
-
It just so happens that my husband shot that bull. The guy in the middle. And by the way, it was just scored by the I.N.W.C. and it took 4th in WA and 1st place for Current Harvest at the Spokane Big Horn Show. And it won't be displayed at Cabela's or any other store. Sorry.

Isn't that the one that people were talking about last fall.. A lady who works at Miller's One Stop had a picture of it?
I think it was shot up near Colville if I remember right.
Nice bull.

I recognize one of the guys in the picture, yes it is a NE WA bull.
-
Well here is the story. I can tell you that I lived close to colville and I hunt local. I had been hunting all season but it was so dry we could not make a stalk on anything and we could not get to the water holes where they bedded down all day,so we kept after it and finally on the last day of season we woke up to rain,we made it to a clearcut in the dark and listening below was a bull elk and he was mad,as the sun came up we started scoping out the clearing and the bull I got was a half mile away and coming down the hill to fight he only buggled a couple times but he new where he was going,we made are way around the hill hoping to get in front of him before he got to the bottom and into the jungle,as we were setting up to buggle him in he steped out at about 100 yards and I freaked out and pulled the bow back only to be smacked by my brother,so I set my bow back down and watched,as you can see it was thick, at 30 yards we seen him again and i was not letting him get closer the arrow went through the lungs out the back of the shoulder,we had no time to waste because of the rain so we gave him about 10 minutes and went to look for blood and found it he went about 90 - 100 yards and died it took 6 people and 4 hours to the truck, so now you know why they call me lucky

i gotta know about this three footed bull
-
great story
-
What did it score?? Nice bull BTW , congrats!!
-
Nice to know the story behind the pic. THanks. I know it gets thick in there. We had a couple of guys from our camp leave early to go up there and hunt. After 3 days of fighting brush they gave up and came back to our camp.
-
Great bull, wow
-
Great story, to go with an absolutely awesome bull!!! Congrats. That is when hunting hard really pays off, when you know where they are and can get right in with em.
-
Being there when an animal like this is taken, is not nearly as good as listening to the stories of others who were not there. If you dont have a clue as to what you are talking about, dont comment about things as though you do. I,m the guy on the left side of the picture. The other two gentlemen are my sons. Only one guy had a buggle, because Andrew and I suck at it. Jim on the other hand can convince a bull elk that he,s in love with a pine stump. He has buggled bulls in so close for me that they have blown snot on me before I could draw back to shoot them. We have guided hunts in Idaho and Colorado, and as a result have seen many elk and experienced many hunting trips. When I scout an area, I try find things that others are trying to hide. thats how I first found this bull. The boy,s where going to let me take this bull since I had found him, but with me having a muzzle-loader tag and it being archery season I was just along to pack meat. So if your wondering why I,m not smiling, here is your sign! After a couple of hours with both back straps and a front shoulder, there was no elk on earth worth what my legs were fealing. On the up hills my legs were cramping, on the down hills I was praying ,God just let hit a tree at full speed and die. But as luck would have it ,just before the road I ran into a pile of brush and it slowed me down, changing my perspective on how badly I want my life to end. As I sat on the side of the road trying to recouperate, there was an opportunity to reflect back on what had just happened to me. I had just shared the most spectacular I have ever been on with two of my sons, and I dont even care if Cabelas did want to display the head and horns! they couldnt have any idea how awsome the hunt was. They didnt see how badly Adrews hands and arms were shaking. they didnt watch as Jim talked him through it , calming him down so when the shot finally presented its self that he could take it with confidence. the sight of that arrow leaving his bow and going through right behind the shoulder.Andrew throwing his bow in the air and screaming like he wanted the whole world to hear, I just shot the biggest bull I,ve ever seen in my life. For those of you that can celebrate with us.please do? If you cant --------You can buy a life at wal-mart they have every thing for less
-
im not following here, so the other guy was making up the story? :dunno:

+1
-
AS you can plainly see. I have the shed horn! I took the horns to Cabelas THEY seemed as though they would have been more than happy to display the mount. I cant remember that it was ever discuss to be honest with you.
-
That bull is awsome!
-
still really unclear, is this guy lying about the hunt or is this your son.

Andrew is telling the truth alright. and he is my son. One thing I forgot to mention. I cow called once on this hunt, and I think that is what made our hunt sucessful
-
Thanks for posting! Great bull!
Since you have the shed......How long did you know he was around?
-
Glad to have you come on here and post, thamk you! That is one hell of a bull your boy killed, congrats to him! I stuck my biggest bull last year (370) man I coulnt have been happier. I know the rush your boy felt!!
-
Hey oldguy was that the bull in the picture at the local corner mart near Elk? We saw a pic in that store of a similar bull but a couple days later when we went in it had been stolen.
-
Who did your head mount?
-
i was just a little confused by the beginning of your post, one heck of a trophy. what unit was it in? or was that already said
-
Beautiful bull and mount. But I gotta tell ya, there is no way in hell I'd have it that close to that single wall stove pipe.
-
this is the bull that was in millers one stop. My daughter in laws mother worked there. As to where he was taken, that is the one thing I might lie about. The only reason he,s on the wall next to the stove is it was either that or out in the front yard. my wife said!
-
why won't cabela's display it? there was a couple mentions made in the first couple pages that cabela's won't display it...
-

Way cool oldguy, I spoke to her while moose hunting and thought it looked like the same bull. She told me where it was taken but I doubt anyone will believe the Desert unit ;)
-
;) Not believing it Huntphool... Congrats to your family oldguy, what an experience, My 2 year old has no idea what he is going to be in for soon. :)
Miles- what do you think?
-
man thats a great bull. the shed you have makes it even better.heck of a secret to keep after you got the shed
-
I have never heard m yself that Cabelas would,nt display it. I know some of the people who work there personaly, have even taken people from there hunting with us. Never had anyone say a bad word to us, or about us.
-
great bull and a great story. thanks for coming on here and sharing with us. stick around!
-
I echo that Zach. Great shed and Great Bull. Good luck this year to your family.
-
That's a nice animal makes me want to go put some trail cams out on some wallows :chuckle:
-
Very Cool...
Neat Bull... I can only hope my year is as successful.
