I might have a beater around somewhere that I'd let go for $200.
-
$100 for a shotgun.
Every time I hear about one of these I have visions of someone turning in Grandpa's old Parker.
-
Will be a bunch of stolens cashed in, any chance for a serial # check, would love to get my long gone o/u back

This is interesting:
Collected Firearms
• All firearms will be checked to see if they are stolen or have been used in any crimes. If the weapon is not stolen or used in a crime, it will be properly destroyed by the Everett Police Department. If the weapon is stolen or determined to have been used in the commission of a crime, the firearm will be impounded as evidence and not destroyed unless and until its evidentiary value has dissipated. Participants who submit a firearm that is determined to be stolen or related to criminal activity may be properly investigated for their roll in any criminal activity related to the firearm.
• Firearms with significant historical value may be converted to department property for display purposes only.
Doesn't say they attempt to return stolens to rightful owners; don't know if that's typical for these?
I like the part where if they're worth enough they will keep them.
-
I just want to sit out front of the drop off location and offer more money for certain firearms. Basically....run them by me before getting taken advantage of by the government.

I seem to recall there was a guy that would do the 80% receivers for these buybacks. He had the molds for glocks and would just pour in epoxy. He also would 3D print AR lowers. Anyone remember that?

I don't remember that but apparently the "staff" does:
Ghost guns/ Privately made firearms (PMF)
• Ghost guns and PMFs are limited to one gun per resident. See the description above for more information on ghost guns. Ghost guns that are fully assembled will be paid out as their classification of a rifle or handgun.
• We will not be accepting any guns made with parts commonly found at home improvement stores (gas pipe barrels, mouse trap hammers, etc). We will not be accepting 3D-printed guns except where the lower receiver is the only 3d printed part and the rest of the gun appears to be fully functional and safe to fire. Discretion as to the legitimacy of the Ghost Gun will be given to the firearms staff at the event.
Event staff have sole discretion about any and all firearms submitted, including determinations as to what constitutes a firearm, the amount of gift cards given in exchange for firearms, and who may participate. Any attempts to “game” the system will be rejected.

I wonder what techniques would be considered un-"properly destroyed"? tic
-
I went by to turn in a couple of beaters and they were out of money by 12:30. Popular event.

Yeah he made like 20k in New York driving 6 or so hours I think.

I wonder how many of what they got? I also wonder if staff gets a chance to take a couple guns home
-
I wouldnt be any part of them considering their event a success.

Giving them to police officers who don't clean their firearms.

I have a family member who is a LEO. He says a lot of these guns dont get destroyed and end up in a LEO home.

As in, it's a formal perk for the LEOs? Or they are making them disappear before the guns go to the scrapper?

On December 17th, 2022, the Everett Police Department held our first Guns for Gift Cards event at the South Precinct.
This drive through event provided residents of Everett and Snohomish County with an opportunity to relinquish unwanted firearms. The goal was to reduce the possibility of an unwanted firearm being used in a tragic accident, suicide, or possibly stolen and used in a violent crime.
The results of the event are as follows:
Handguns-123
Long guns-109
ARs / AKs-9
Total-241
The Everett Police Department would like to thank our community for a successful event.

definitely not formal. same thing goes for confiscated goods.

Dang, there is a lot of freedom in that pile. Jreb and I might have been broke if we set up a stand down the street

:yeah:
I'm actually suprised there's a few AR's in there.

Yeah, some of the sellers would've done better almost anywhere else. I see an O/U and a couple rifles that could have a little more value.
-
Yeah, there are some nice pieces in that pile. But mostly it’s a big pile of crap. I don’t think that they got many guns “off the street”, they mostly got a bunch of rust collectors from the back of people’s closets.
-
I think Bone’s sentence said it best, “dang, there is a lot of freedom in that pile”
And thus the problem. Folks willingly giving up freedom.
I sold one gun In my life and have regretted it ever since. In a time of need any gun is more valuable than any amount of cash. I would bury them in a hole before I gave them up.
-
From the looks of the people that I saw in line to turn in guns, I’m betting that a lot of those Visa cards went straight to Cabela’s to buy more reliable and modern guns.
That was my plan anyway, but they ran out of money.

Thinking the same.

So something is not right between the departments statement and the photo. The statement says 9 AR/AK and there is more than that in that photo.

What agency...

Might be a couple 10/22s there or something.

I have also been told this by reliable sources more than a couple times over the years.

I love the picture on the times website of the proud looking Everett cop carrying 3 BB guns. What a joke.
-
Just saw that too!
-
Hey, that Red Ryder will put yer eye out!
-
Wouldn't call that a smile of satisfaction, instead a look more like "why me...???"
