Hey guys...finally sorted through the 1000+ pics and here is what we got.
When we hiked up to get the camera i was not happy to see it was laying about 3 feet from the tree we put it on just 8 days ago, on the ground and broke off of the strap. :yike:
It had some claw/teeth marks on it and a small puncture near the display screen. :yike:
I then took a look around as my heart started to race.
I checked out the terrain around me and it had definitely had a lot of action.
the salt lick had been chewed on and moved and the buck/doe feed was almost completely gone.
As i scrolled through the pictures, the story unfolded.
On the last night the camera was up one of the bears decided he didn't like his picture taken anymore and ripped our cam off of the tree. As it sat below the tree it took about 350 pics of the sky. :chuckle:
The cam still works great and nothing was broken that cant be fixed, but i think we are going to "bear proof" it for next time.
photo and animal count:
we had about 450 of actual animals :IBCOOL:
we had about 650 of trees moving and shaddows :bash:
1 coyote
4 muledeer (1 doe and 3 bucks)
2 bears (one small and one bigger)
1 cow elk
I am officially hooked on this hobby..... :hello:
enjoy the pics guys..

cool pictures. your luck it's still in one piece and only three feet away.
-
tell me about it...
i just tested it and it works just fine, its just weird how for a whole week he never even looked at it and then all of the sudden he just ripped it off.
:dunno:
he must have smelled us....we sprayed some sent cover up i guess not enough..
we are going to take more precautions next time, :IBCOOL:
glad we still got our cam...
-
Don't you hate it when I am right?
-
Ha ha ha ha
:chuckle:
well i figured it was bound to happen...
next time we use gloves and take all the precautions...
at least we still got a cam. :IBCOOL:
-
Indeed.
-
Think of it this way though, if he would have eatin it and *censored* it out right there you might ahve got the first bear colonoscopy.
-
Nice pics.
The elk chewed the strap off of my cam :bash:.

You have no idea...
My bro and i are going to really bullet proof it so the next time mr fuzzy face trys to rip our cam off the tree he will have a much harder time.

That ridge holds alot of elk in September. It is one of my favorite spots to hike to and just listen to the bugeling!!
Nice pics, I have somehow been able to avoid the camera being eaten but I am sure it will happen soon enough. I am just so impatient waiting for my cameras to get back from WI so I can put them out.

Your cameras go on vacation to Wisconsin? Wow, I thought I treated my gear well... :chuckle:
That's nice of you to do for them in the off-season. Especially with airfare the way it is these days. Most employers cut out those kind of perks...
-
couple more....

Get the cam out of the sun to avoid false triggers and, not that I told you so, but use surgical gloves when handling your cam. wipe it down good with scent killer and don't handle it with your bare hands or let it touch any bait. Bears are both curious and persistent. They will keep at it until they find out there's not a yummy chewy center inside!
-
Thats the color bear I have been looking for. Great pics.
-
how much you wanna give me for GPS #'s :IBCOOL: :hello: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

depending on what we find this weekend at this new spot.
