Last summer I picked up a Winchester SXP Hybrid Turkey 12ga 3 1/2 Chamber. However, this being a Bass Pro / Cabela's special order, they (Bass Pro / Cabela's) elected to not have the Fiber Optic sights mounted. And these shotguns are sold with just the bead. It has worked fine for Upland Game Birds and I am sure it will work fine for gobblers. However, as I prepare to hopefully get out and try my hand at hunting gobblers I find myself considering purchasing Rib Mount Sights for this shotgun. Winchester Rep stated they mount TruGlo Magnum Double Gobblers on their "Turkey Barrels". As I look around there are several options. I'm thinking that these sights will be removed when the gobblers are not in season and I can get back to upland game birds. I would like some thoughts on which way to lean for my sights.

Bird dog also has a good idea. You can get a mount from B-Square or other & mount a red dot that’s aligned with the densest area if your pattern. When you want to hunt upland with it again, take it off & use the bead.

Is the receiver tapped for a scope Mount?
pretty sure that is yes, why i recommended the mount on it.

I also have had poor luck with clamp on rib type shotgun sights, and better results with upgrading the bead sight. The rib is your rear sight, the bead should appear to float flat and dead center on it with none of the top surface part of rib visible if eye and head are in proper position. Hope that helps. Would a person clamp sights on a revolver and then shoot at a living thing? But thousands of those sights have been sold year after year, regardless. Best of luck on a gobbler!
I think they help with quick long shots. I pattern out to 70 and they help with getting it centered. Red dot works too but not my thing.
But at 30/40 I don't think it matters. It is nice having the fiber for low light however.
Not just for hunting but in case you find yourself walking back late.

You could just go with the stock bead like some have mentioned. But some shotguns have a point of aim vs point of impact (POA/POI) discrepancy. Point in case, I have been using a Stoeger M3500 for the last several years and just used the stock bead. I like the gun, but I've had a lot of frustrating misses on turkeys over the last few years. After research I found that the Stoegers often have a significant POA/POI difference. With the Truglo sights not staying on, I think my next course of action is to go with a red dot sight.

Those Truglo fiber optic sights used to be awesome, but it seems the production quality has suffered as of late. I tried several different models of them including the clamp on, magnetic, and stick on. None of them would stay on the rib of my gun. (Even with sights that supposedly were the right size for the rib)

Ahhh, yes someone who understands shotgun poi. In a general since the higher the rib or the front bead the lower the gun will shoot. If you gun shoot low, add a cheek eez pad to raise the POI. Oswalds "stockfitters bible" is worth the $30. Its a hard read but worth the time if you are a shotgunner
