Title: 3D Competition??
Post by: actionshooter on January 01, 2023, 08:09:29 PM
Have never shot any type of competition with archery equipment and was thinking of maybe giving it a go...  I see the thread with match dates... Any advice on what I'll be in for?  Tips?  Capitol City R&P is my home club ( CC Bowmen..) so that will likely be my first if it's not too late to sign up.
Thanks!    Steve

Haven’t shot 3D for some time but it is great practice for guessing ranges. It isn’t necessary to have an arrow puller or arrow lube but it can make pulling arrows from foam much easier.

They are a blast!  Shoot to have fun. Capital City used to put on a great shoot, havent done it for a while so not sure if they still do.

I don't do the "competition" ones, I go to shoots just to walk a course and practice.
Some of the "novelty" shoots are fun to sign up for.
.
But, I only have gone to "traditional" rendezvous..
.
It's a great time to camp with people, and practice shooting.
.
"Actual competition" is not my objective.
.
I'm lucky to win a raffle.
.
But the experience?
.
Priceless
,.

I think its the best practice for hunting. Some people shoot them for the hunting practice some for the competition. You will have a great time.

I would give you one piece of advice, if you just shooting for fun with a range finder, dont talk loud about the yardage. Probably the one piece of etiquette necessary.

I don’t do the competition side and turn in score cards. I do all the local shoots I can. For sure some of the best practice that a guy can get. Giving you opportunity to shoot at life size targets and different angles.

Thanks guys!
I was wondering about rangefinders at the shoots.... so what I gather is rangefinders are for fun, no score? Works for me, just curious if thats how it typically works?  I figured just the practice under field conditions would be great for hunting.

Depends on the shoot, some have marked yardage and they are ok

:yeah:
3ds are great fun like others have said shoot for fun or competition it's up to you. They are the best hunting practice you can get and where else can you go shoot african game than a huge buck. Rangefinders are ok just tell them at registration and be considerate of others that don't we use to not use them but now we all have them we use them for hunting so why not 3-d it's also good practice. You will make new freinds to shoot with and have a blast. We don't turn in our cards but keep our own scores we score different 15-10-8-5 or 1 which ever we decide and have a little trophy the winner get's until the next shoot it's good fun competition. Travel and go to as many as you can. Might even see you at a couple if you don't have anyone to shoot with you can join our group. Blue GMC with stickers on my canopy. First in first out. :hello:   :chuckle:

Frozen Fletch in the books. Bow shooting like a champ. Was more of a wet fletch this year. Great shoot good freinds and lots of arrows down range. We all had a blast. Little wet but didn't slow us down. :hello:  . Next shoot  Bucks and bulls 3-d at Gray's harbor.  This is an awesome place to shoot target's down along the bay. Lot's of up hill down hill shot's.
