I just purchased a pair of Kenetrek Mountain Extreme 1000gr boots,I must say they are the best fitting and most comfortable boots right out of the box!I am going on a 10 day guided elk and deer combo hunt up in B.C. with A bar Z outfitters in Sept.
so I wanted a new pair of boots!I have been a loyal Danner boot buyer for 25+ years
but was told these were the boots to get!Jerry

1000gr. Thinsulate in September :yike: good luck with blisters, far too warm for me. I have 1000gr. Danners and cant even think about using them until the middle of November.

Nice boots but I'm with Phool. I use Lowa Tibets in September and insulated Lowa Sheep Hunters in November.

i like uninsulated boots in september and insulated boots for november and december i think that those boots are going to be way to warm for a september hunt unless i snows even then they will probably be to warm

a little different climate where he plans on hunting i think...b.c. high country is probably a little cooler than wenatchee in sept.
:dunno: just a hunch.
with that said, i tend to steer clear of heavily insulated boots period.

200 grams of Thinsulate is about all I ever want in a pair of hunting boots that I will be hiking in. 1000 grams would be more for hunting in snow all day and/or sitting a stand for several hours at a time.

I would hike in them right now before it gets warm... to break them in and make sure you like them and they're what you will need for your guided hunt. There is nothing in my mind that will ruin a hunt faster than having the wrong pair of boots. If there's chance of hunting marsh or tundra, I'd have a pair of LaCross or Rocky rubber boots. I would ask what the guide wears that time of year.

Yes,its a no brainer,I will be taking an extra pair with me!The majority of the time I will be in the saddle or glassing so it will be nice to have a heavier pair,also the Kenetrek
boots are lighter than your average 1000gr boot,I have hiked in them allready and they do not seem overly insulated.I tend to get cold feet so I wanted a little more warmth!Jerry

I used to be a horse shoer and also my parents raised paint horses most of my life,I also worked for High Country Packers over in Teanaway many years back so yeah I am used to riding! Jerry

Where did ou get them at? I want a pair, but can't find anyone in Western Washington that sells them. I'd even stop at a store at a store in Eastern Washington on one of my many weekends over there.

Nice rigs, but I can't do heavy lug soles unless I'm in the rocks up high. I like softer soles for bowhunting in general and love the silent stalkers (and similar) from Cabela's. I use my Danner GTX as well and love 'em.

I've hunted for a year in my Kenetrek ME's, two spring bear hunts, one in the blues the other in Hells Canyon, Middle Fork Idaho, and flat land Alberta. Never worn a more comfy boot, tougher than hell.

I just ordered a pair of the Mountain extreme 400's. I bought a pair of Scarpa Liskaams and they killed my feet ( They do not come in wide) . i hope these will be better. Bugs and bullets in MT. is where they are coming from. 345 and you get a free pair of the Kenetrek gaiters.

I've heard good things about those boots, but to :beatdeadhorse: that is some serious insulation. I use 1200gr for ice fishing and for hunting have never used anything more than 800 if there is to be any walking even in the dead of winter

Just to let you know the new boots worked flawless in BC. for my elk hunt,very comfortable and warm,wore them from daylight to well after dark!Jerry

100 percent Kenetrek fan. They take any abuse you can give them and keep on trekking.
I've had mine for over two years now and use them in very difficult terrain year round. Still in excellent condition! Great choice!
