After a few months now with no luck I started trapping on a farm near the river. A few weeks in and nothing so I made a mud mound with some store bought castor in the back of my trap. It sat for a few days nothing showed up. I put a little more castor because it had been raining and knew it was just going to take time because sign was everywhere. The next day the wife and I sent the kids off to school and headed to the farm to check my trap line. Now keep in mind I have been dealing with starlings steal my bait and tripping my traps so when I came around the corner and saw the door closed on my 7x7 and the 12x12 I was like damn. Well 7x7 had nothing in it but when I took a step closer to the big cage there she was my first catch ever. (Besides birds and rats.)

Nice!

That looks big! How many lbs? I've trapped 3 total and love it. Wasn't able to get out this winter though. Nice work!

Congratulations nice catch

Glad you got one. But I think you lucked out, she just about head butted out of that cage door. Prolly the last beaver that little cage will hold, if you can get it straightened out and reset.

I fixed it. The door was fine untill she did the little "dance" after dispatching. But I have no idea how it even fit let alone turned around in there.

Yep loup loup……
Don’t buy tractor supply cages for beaver.
And you said she. Was that confirmed? Or did you do the sniff test that the bio’s are now using.

I say she because there was no penis when I removed the castor.
