Got the opportunity to check one of my cameras Wednesday after a 60 mile snowmobile ride in. No wolves yet. Will see what February and March bring. Usually where I have this one at is a rendezvous site. Fish and Game has done a lot of aerial gunning in years past and their fuel trailer stashed up there looked to have been used sometime this winter.
Great to see healthy elk. Deer don't winter in this area so no deer.

All the elk we saw are healthy and no wolf kills on the road yet. Last year there was 21 on the road when it was plowed out. 2 areas with wolf sign in 65 miles.

Along with Cuddly puppies, friendly lynx and cozy Grizzlies are their next agenda here. Don’t mind the fisher or the wolverine encounters, but the grizzlies are something I have a feeling I will encounter sooner than later where I adventure at. Seen a video of a sow and cub from this fall about 10 miles as the crow flies south of this camera.

Probably won’t be long until there’s a few in there calling it home. I’m always aware when I’m in there .
Had 1 pic a few years ago of a bear that might of been questionable. Probably a blackie tho. Seeing the hump makes you wonder , but could be the way it’s walking

I would have to see different angles of that bear for it to be definitive. Not sure it is a grizzly but very well could be. Would love to see its face, frontal and profile. Cool pics regardless and beautiful country.

Glad you made it in safely.

Wheat field at the end of that elk trail? Lots of in and out

Well I went and picked this camera up today since the snow finally melted enough to get up there. 24 pictures since I checked the camera the end of January and 17 of them are wolves. Going to tell the biologist on Monday that she was absolutely correct In betting that the wolves showing up Feb-March. I counted 5 elk carcasses that were fresh between January and now. Probably more up the road.
Also picked up another cam lower down last week. No wolves on that one.. I’ll post some pics when I head to town for groceries.

I have yet to get any pics of wolves.
I've seen a few with my little eye.
I too had a cam I left all winter.
Deer, elk, all that till January, then nothing but coyotes till April.
Think deep snow was a factor at my site.
And the cam was still taking pics.
That was crazy part, but very little activity for the deep snow months caused the cam to last all winter.

Gotta love em

Chances are either the same one or another. Apparently there’s multiple black wolves out here in different packs!

I have yet to see or get a black one on cam where I am hunting, sure like to kill one. They are all the same color
