In 12s…
Does anyone that own NLs ever wish they would have bought the ELs instead? The size and function of the NLs is so great, but that tiny extra bit of light with the ELs (50 vs 42) is so noticeable to me.
I’ve never played is this world of high end binos and coming from b.5 mavens, so still trying to learn and wrap my head around the swaros and the price tag with them.

No the 12 pures are the way to go
-
Now you've done it! Once you look through them nothing will be as good. I have ELs and refuse to look through the Pure... if they are that much better I won't know, and won't need to upgrade.
-
I’ve had both side by side two times now. The size of the NLs is nice, but I think the ELs were brighter and truer color, though I’m not sure if I believe myself with those observations. I just don’t know what to do. I wish I could have them both outside on a ridge at dusk to compare, but I don’t think sportsman will let me do that.

My EL’s have never failed, no need to change…unless it’s to include the range finder. :twocents:

What you’ve described is spot on. My brother handled the two side by side in the mountains hunting with a buddy and states exactly what’s been described. Bro had the ELs and buddy had the NLs.
You can’t go wrong with either, obviously. But once cry once.
I went with the 12x42 NL pures. Absolutely love them. I came from vortex vipers. And I thought those were “good” binos…. Maybe they are… My wife uses the Vipers now and switching back to those in the field I can’t believe how I used them for so long. Each time I take my eyes out of my Swaros she snags them from me haha.

If the el brighter in your comparison test, go that route.
When i first made the leap i compared slc and el heavily in all light conditions. SLC were brighter but el had better color and definition contrast. In the end i got EL because that suited my needs and found a deal. The pures combined all of it for me and was worth the upgrade. Same definition and contrast with increased lowlight brightness. Thats with 10 power tho.

I bought my SLC's just prior to the introduction of the EL's, so I didn't have those problems/options. However, when I bought my spotter, the Sportsmens I was at set up two tripods outside the store with the straight and angled eye piece so I could compare side-by-side. So, ask--they may do the same for you. You just need to time your visit to coincide with dusk. If you're at the Canal Drive store, you should be able to see some distance. Almost the same as being on a ridge.

Sold SLC's and got 12x Pures. Great Binos. However at that price I'm leaning towards ranging Binos - 32 Pro Leica's. To my eyes they don't give up much to the Pures, but the Pures are so comfortable I haven't switched yet. May never. If the Pures were ranging binos that would be a gamechanger.

So true, my luck I would buy Pures and the next day they would release Rangefinder Pures . I will stick with ELs until that happens

My luck too :chuckle:

SLC 8x56 with a exit pupil of 7mm are the best low light binos from Swarovski.

I have Leica Geovid HD range/bino - have never looked thru any Swaros , are they much better than leicas?
-
Sold my 12x50 EL's for 12x42 NL's.... sold my 8x42 EL's for 8x32 NL's... glad I did, and I live a lot of my life behind the glass....
No regrets at all....

I’ve owed both but settled on Swaro range
Not a ton better but there are a few differences depending on which Leicas you have the button could be on the other side. This could come into play for bow hunting. Other than that I think the Swaro’s meter better in snow and glare.

:yeah: That's why I'm sticking with my EL Ranges for now.

I have Minox HG’s, and both my Dad and Father in Law have EL’s. I’ve gone back and forth comparing all of them, and my HG’s are so close that it wasn’t worth upgrading. Fast forward to the NL’s, and to my eyes, they are just that much better, and worthy of making my HG’s truck binoculars.

Forgot about this thread.
After tons of thinking and budgeting, I ditched the swaro thought and decided to keep saving for a moose hunt sometime soon
Ended up buying another pair of mavens to replace the mavens I sold for this swaro thought :bash: :chuckle:

I’m going to stick with my Vortex Diamondback HD’s until someone gives me a nicer pair of glass :chuckle:
How is the field of view on those Mavens?
