Post by: Heavily Armed Hiker on May 30, 2009, 08:27:38 PM
Got my new issue of Eastmans and there's a story in there about an 416 elk shot in WA.  Anybody have any further info on this elk???

there's like 84 or 85 threads on here...look in the elk forum around sept/october i think of last year.
buckle up though, and don't dredge any of the back up....leave them lie where they are.

I thought that the gov. tag bull scored closer to the mid 400's than that. That was the one from the Blues, right?

my prediction is that the old threads won't have to be dredged back up...i bet this one works just fine.

i think that gov tag bull netted that...grossed higher.

Sorry to bring up bad memories, I'll shut up now.

It grossed like 446-9 and netted in the 430's, like 434. I didnt read anything on a 416 bull shot in Washington, I could have missed it if it was a short article?

It's not the governor's tag.  The hunter's name was Kevin Fields.  The brief story only has a couple pics and does not mention what part of the state the elk was taken in.  The story is the second to last page of the new issue.

Still waiting for my May/Jun EBJ, must be in that one.  I think that elk looks familiar.  I'll have to shoot a pic around to the guys in my elk camp and ask if they've seen it.  I judged the bull I am thinking of at about 380, but I didn't get a lot of time to look.
That's one helluva bull.

Wow, those fronts are unreal!  Great backs too, but those fronts and thirds are awesome.

Kinda amazing that we don't hear about a bull like that til it gets published in Eastmans.  Heck, I think we knew that Agnew killed his bull before he got back on his plane.

I heard that bucklucky and bowsandhoes paid the guy off to keep quiet about his hog of a bull so they could be the top big bull slayers for a while but somebody leaked the story and pics.  :chuckle: Great bull and glad it didn't make the mag and site before the draw deadline it would only make those odds  even worse. Be interesting to see if the Blues will produce these kind of bulls again this year. nwhunter

Got mine today. Its on the last page, the sheds in the foreground look eerily similar to the "Agnew" sheds. Good story....

Post by: bucklucky on June 02, 2009, 07:43:15 AM
I was told about this bull and  was waiting to see the pics ! Those are the 450 8x8 sheds that were found last year. They had them  on E-Bay for a while . The bull didnt grow the 8th points this past year though. I was told it was about 420. Looks nothing like the agnew bull Jud, those sheds are a slick 8, almost typical in appearance , the extras were as long as the swords and just off the side of the main beam if I recal correctly. Dang rifle hunters always put the smackdown on the biggest bulls ......cheaters  :chuckle:

too funny, i know kevin and it is a great bull. there was also one that i saw just pics of, rumored to be 420 or so, the 3rd tine on the right side was broke off, had to cost at least 20in, have not seen that one in person. another friend of mine killed a 396 in the wenaha, the boys had a helluva year

Hi guy's I am the one that has shot this bull. He was green scored 416 gross and 405 net green. The final score on this bull is 411-7/8 gross and 401-4/8 net. This was a draw tag that was applied for 11 yrs straight. He was killed on public land with a fair chase hunt. Now that I was fortunate enough to have shot this bull the bar has been set. Have fun hunt hard and most of all shoot ethically !!

That is a great bull. My friend found a set of sheds last year that score about 405-410 I'm sure he will be bigger this year. Either way that bull is alive and kickin. I'm just hoping that one of us draws a tag in the next year or so. He should give Kevin a run for his money!

Welcome Kevin!!
