Title: Angry Turkey...
Post by: Rob on May 02, 2023, 06:53:53 AM
Pretty funny...  I went out last night to put some stuff in the garage.  I noticed a turkey with a longer beard that I had not seen before (I have 4 jakes that regularly patrol our property).  He was by my front bumper and he was fanning and gobbling and generally not concerned with me at all.  I saw he was pecking my truck over and over.  As I got closer, I could see he was trying to dominate his reflection which he could see in my bumper.

...But out in the turkey woods with a tag and $300 worth of turkey calls and decoys...
He'd never come closer that 100 yards... :chuckle: :chuckle:

Indeed - I never considered setting up next to a mirror!

It's not turkey related, but is birds and reflection related. Some relatives had a second home, with mirrored windows. Whenever they arrived at this second home, sometime weeks between visits. They would find the windows all dirtied up and bloody, I mean A LOT of blood. It would take then the better part of a day, to clean up the mess. So some game cameras were set up to try and catch the culprit. On the next visit, they found the windows in bad shape again. This time, game cameras would tell the tale. It turned out to be a pair of Ravens,   it appears they spent a considerable amount of time, fight off the fake intruders. The house was sold some while later, I would guess the current owner is still having this issue. It always happened in the spring, nesting and territorial dispute season.
