Title: 2023 Hunter Ed incentive tag Region 5
Post by: GOcougsHunter on May 05, 2023, 01:07:58 PM
So,
My experience with pulling special permits has not been super eventful.  I pull a permit for a specific GMU and species and during a specific timeframe.  Then... I spend the summer scouting the GMU and preparing for the week or so the permit allows for. really straightforward.   I was very lucky and just got noticed that I have pulled a Hunter ed instructor tag for any deer in Region 5.  That is any deer during any open season or special permit season.

Now my "problem" is that I have so many hunt choices that I am like a kid in a candy shop.  There are so many options...and only one hunter.  So much land, so many places to hunt.  I am really wanting to make sure that I don't screw up any quality seasons for those who pull those quality deer permits, but, because those are very limited permits, I don't think it will be much of a problem.  Been a few years since I have hunted in the 500 gmus and hope to equal my bucks of the past out of Battleground.  This is going to be unique and really fun as I probably won't have this type of a special permit ever again.  I am getting a little taste of what it must be like to get one of the raffle tags or reporting incentive tags.

Be the kid in the candy store until your mind starts to settle down on some hunts. Then get after it and make sure to tell us the story!
