Just read they just got sentenced 10 days in jail license suspended for three years $2500 in fines forfeiture of $130,000 boat and I think probation for 18 months.
-
Losing the boat probably stings but 10 days in jail seems a little light, should be 6 months or more.
-
Seems very light. I think besides the boat they won a bunch of gear and money to? Wonder why they don’t have to pay that all back to.
Should also be banned from all competing in the future as well.

All the gear and money was from previous tournaments I believe. No way to prove they were ill gotten.
I just like the idea of them looking over their shoulders at every boat launch for fear of getting their asses kicked.

I think it was a light sentence myself six months seems fair. But I do believe they are blackballed from any future tournaments. Just my :twocents:

How many private lawsuits will follow? Some of the second place finishers lost a bunch.

It was a boat they “won” by cheating. Very soft sentence IMO.

Un-related but...

He seams like a stand up fella

:yeah: The boat was from a previous deal to and if they can take that back I would think they could also do that for the winning of other cash and prizes.
Who knows but with as much as they won probably doing the same shady stuff as all the other guys were saying in the videos. It’s crazy light sentences.
-
I think the difference with the boat vs other gear is that they used the boat in commission of the crime. If they won a bunch of rods, reels, tackle, a trolling motor, depth finders, etc. that were at home in the garage they can't really go after that without proof that those were ill gotten.
-
Cheaters should have probably received more jail time, and over all stiffer penalties. They screwed a lot of people. What they did was horrible.

While they probably should have, the biggest punishment these guys received is their image in the court of public opinion. This will forever be tied to their names wherever they go and will impact their lives way more than a few months in jail would do. Not only will they never be allowed in another fishing tournament again, but it'll impact their careers and even their families.
-
For at least one of them, I don't think it's going to change his outlook on anything. Some people just don't get it.
