So, one of my son's bought the wrong tag.
How do you change it?
I know there's a way, but I can't find it.
Thanks.

He needs to go to a license dealer, and do it during business hours when the WDFW in Olympia is available to take phone calls. The tag he has will need to be turned in before they will issue the new one.

Phone calls are answered, and lists being made for return calls at some point. Get your name on the list and maybe they will help in the next few days. Don't ask me how I know. Maybe this is why it takes so long for the draw. :dunno: :chuckle:
-
Also maybe this goes without saying, but if he's already applied for permits, he's out of luck.
-
My buddy had to do this last year. He had to bring in the physical copy to the WDFW here in Spokane and swap it out I believe.
-
I was buying 1 more permit app and hit wrong button. No way I'm applying for a 2nd deer permit. Yes, I could still buy the buck deer app I want.
-
Thanks all.

This is exactly why the draws are delayed and variations of this issue. They helped out a ton by allowing you to change your draw picks yourself online up until deadline to apply.

Here's the applicable WAC: https://app.leg.wa.gov/wac/default.aspx?cite=220-220-100
(5) Transport tag exchanges will be allowed for the following:
(a) The season for which the tag was issued has not opened, and the hunter wishes to exchange the tag for a different area or a different weapon type. In these instances archery tag holders must request a tag exchange before September 1st, muzzleloader tag holders must request a tag exchange before September 20th, and modern firearm tag holders must request a tag exchange before October 10th, as verified by the department.
(b) The tag was issued in error and the error was not caused by the person applying for the tag, as verified by the department.
(6) Except as otherwise provided, transport tag exchanges will not be allowed for the following: If a special hunt permit application was submitted by the tag holder and that application required a big game transport tag, it is unlawful to exchange the transport tag after the application submission deadline date has passed. However, if the tag holder's request for a tag exchange was made prior to the application submission deadline date, as verified by the department, an exchange can be made. Special permit applications for ghost hunts, regardless of the submission method, are not applicable to this subsection.

Let the whining and crying festival start!! Anyone want to guess how many people will struggle with the apps. :'(

Man, I wish I'd have known this! I would have been hunting ghosts a long time ago!

Quality Ghost permits have long odds.

Just like the power company will tell you your lights will be back on in four hours if they think they can do it in two, WDFW should say applications have to be in by the 24th and then just actually set the cut off date for the end of that week. Everybody calling and freaking out could just still get it fixed before the actual system cut off. Or maybe they could offer a special incentive permit for all of us that got our applications in on time and accurately. That might push a few people to not wait till the very last day to do it

Thanks again, Bob.
I owe you yet another one.

Also maybe this goes without saying, but if he's already applied for permits, he's out of luck.
I believe he can simply log in to his account and "un-submit" he apps.

Update: tag changed and correct hunt apps submitted.
As my son said: sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.
Thanks all.

But can we still blame him for delaying the draw?

He's a big boy.
He can take it. 8)
Mostly you should blame him when he pulls bull Moose, big horn ram, , quality elk, and quality deer this year.

It’s simple I exchanged my east side muzzy elk yesterday for a west side modern elk. Unsubmitted prior to the reapplied for permits after exchange.
