Title: Western Field
Post by: mjgentile on June 02, 2009, 09:52:32 PM
I inherited an Western Field Single barrel 20Ga Model EY19. I know that they have been made by Mossberg or Savage/Stevens an sold by Wards. Was wondering if anyone knows more about  this shotgun. I used this shotgun when I was a teenager in 70's,  mostly for rabbit. My dad bought in the 50's. Just looking to get an idea for insurance purpose.
1. Who made it
2. age
3. worth
thanks Mike

MOST likely a Savage or a Stevens. All the cross reference manuals I have do not list this exact model, however they list a dozen or so with very close numbers and pre fixes.

In good shape probably worth less than $150. Not rare or valuable to begin with, reliable, rugged and made for the people who did not need or could not afford much.

If you give the serial number, or the prefixes at least it could get closer, there is very little information on this particular shottie.

Thanks Mookie
can not seem to find any serial number. Only markings on it are:
The top of barrel Model EY19 an on bottom of barrel stamped RU RU
The stock is marked with Model 19 an behind the trigger is RU RU.
It is a great little shotgun may not be as pretty as the Beretta Double Barrel I got with it but it does the job just fine
