I have a 12'x14' Montana Canvas wall tent which has shrunk significantly. I haven't had it set up in a few years since we have been using my buddies Davis but I drew a very hard to get tag this year so I am going to need it since I'll mostly be hunting alone and potentially for a few weeks. The last time it was set up, the rafter poles were bowed down due to the tent pulling in and the door would not even begin to zip shut.
I will probably cut the wall and rafter poles down a few inches but before that I wanted to see if anyone has a better idea or has dealt with this before. It has a sewn in floor which is nice when it is set up but a pain in the ass to get the frame into. I will also probably cut the floor out leaving a skirt around the inside but that alone I don't think will solve it.
I'd appreciate any ideas if there is a different way to deal with this before I start hacking the frame up. Seems really difficult to stretch it back or maybe impossible but worth asking.

I cut my poles down 2 inches. Everything is great now.

Put it on the frame and clean and soak it and stake it out snug and let dry then report back

Set it up as best you can and stake it out with the ropes tight. Move the bottom of the poles inward so you can get the door zipped as much as possible. Over a few hours, the canvas will loosen up & you can move the legs out & tighten the ropes. It might take a good while, but if you keep doing this you should be able to get it back to its original size. My Davis tent shrunk during a 4 day rain storm last month & this is how I got it back to original size & the door zipping shut again. Think of a canvas tent like a pair of jeans. When you take them out of the dryer & put them on, they’re tight, but by the middle of the afternoon, you’re looking for a belt.

We had the same happen. We wet it, stretched it, hung it etc etc and weeks later we cut the poles. Fits like a glove now

Yup.. save time and just cut the poles :chuckle:

Thanks for all the replies. Sounds like it's time to just cut the poles and be done with it.
