It's been years since I hunted archery; recently started doing 3D shoots with a buddy and got back into it. I was pretty excited to draw a multi season elk tag this year and was pumped to hunt elk with a bow again! Then I was beyond excited to draw a quality bull tag for archery!!! I also drew a late season archery cow tag so I am going into my early hunt with zero pressure. I have zero expectations going into this hunt and really have no idea what I will shoot at, may take a 350" bull, may be a 4 point... I think it's just going to have to feel right.
My question, what broadhead should I be shooting? I currently shoot 70 lb draw, 29.5 in draw length, 515 grain easton axis 5mm match grade arrow, and 100 grain field point. MONEY IS NOT WHAT IM CONCERNED ABOUT HERE. I want an accurate, true flying, 100 grain broadhead with good penetration, and hopefully good blood trails. I do not want mechanicals; shot them one season and had a bad experience with them. I've been looking at Iron Will S Series and Day Six Evo X broadheads because I like what I see from from a penetration standpoint but some of the blood trail reviews worry me.
What are you shooting for broadheads and why???

Everyone has an opinion on their broadhead choice just as everyone has an opinion on broadhead choice.
Best flying/accurate broadhead for your setup will be the one to go with. Even if that means trying a few different options until you find the one you can tune the best. I’ve been liking the fixed single bevel type.

I don’t think you could go wrong with what your looking at. Iron will with bleeders would be at the top of my list if I had the money. Instead I shoot ozzcut 150grains.

I have tried a bunch. Used muzzy trocars for a few years but after watching a buddy put some pretty impressive holes in animals I’m switching to montec g5s for the season. I think as long as you can get good arrow flight and they are sharp. I shoot 100 grain tips but have 60 grain inserts to get the weight up front.

If money was no object, I would be shooting Iron Will heads. Whether they fly true and accurate is up to your bow and the guy pulling on the string.

Iron Wills are worth it and I run them too. No foreign made broadheads for me

You could try a few three packs of the leading cut on contact BHs and see how they fly for you, or just save time and get Magnus Stingers. Best COC BHs I’ve ever used. I shot this Idaho bull, frontal shot (it was me or him) at 18ish yards a few years ago, Darton Maverick II, 60 lbs. I almost feel bad about what I did to the bulls inner workings, almost… these BHs are devastating.

Trophy Taker Shuttle T. Flies true as a field point. Pass thru on every animal I’ve killed to date except last seasons Buck. Since starting archery in 2015 that amounts to 6 big game animals taken in 8 seasons. My buck last season I crushed quartering away at 65 yards, arrow passed thru the heart and then was stopped by the front right leg bone, but only after breaking the bone in the process. Broadhead still sharp and ready to hunt. There are new products out there that are more expensive and have better advertising but I stick with what has worked for me. Good luck this next season sounds like you’ll need a lot of vacation days to fill all those tags!!

I’m shootings the slick trick standard 125 and they have been amazing. Tuff as nails and crush animals. They also fly exactly like my field points which is a huge plus. They are not a cut on contact blasé but do have a bone crushing tip the penetrates extremely well. I have had multiple pass through shots a on cow elk over the years and have never not recovered an animal with these broadheads.

Rad broadheads and iron will are my two favorites but have shot the iron will exclusively the last 4 years, have taken a half dozen animals with them.
I really like the iron will because of its so sharp, durable and precisely engineered.

Like I said on the other Broadhead post , I'm having real good results with the G5 Stryker V2 broadheads. I have to go replaceable blades lol because I'm not a very good sharpener apparently. The season is coming quickly.

We have a member on here who owns Radicalarcherydesigns. I've shot his heads for the past 10 years.

Hushin or Born and Raised out doors, did a broad head test a year or two ago. look back in their youtube history. It was pretty controlled, same bow, mechanically released.

For those of you that run Iron Will broadheads, has rust been an issue for you? That is one thing that comes up once in awhile on reviews for them.

Rust is a real issue if they get wet. Some blade wax from MKC works really well. Vaseline also works, its cheaper but a bit more mess.

No complaints with my shuttle T's, devastating to the animal.

Iron Will broadheads are as good as they get!!!!
A2 steel is pretty rust resistance but it is not immune. With that said I haven't had any issues yet with them inside of a tight spot quiver.

I just ordered some day six 100's with 3/4 bleeders on Friday, looking forward to seeing how they fly

I shot Shuttle T's for a long long time, but when Dan Evans sold them, they seemed to have lost some of their quality. I and my kids have been shooting QAD Exodus for the last 4-5 years and they are wicked and fly great.

For my IW broadheads I snagged a tin of the Jag Wax from Valkyrie archery. Its relatively cheap, goes a long way and is in a nice little package.
