Hey everyone! I have a very special announcement. Andy Elliot from Elliot Outdoors has released a new podcast episode of hunters interviewing WDFW commissioner John Lehmkul. Watch as me, Andy, and several hunters interview John for two hours. The folks who interviewed John are people who are very involved and in the know of whats happening in Washington. We're a group of hunters who are always active, involved and in the know. If you would like to become a part of this and stay in the know don't hesitate to reach out. Huge thank you to everyone who helped to do this and a huge thank you for Commissioner Lehmkul for doing this. By the way, be on the lookout for another special episode as hunters interview WDFW commissioner Tim Ragen. You can watch this podcast wherever you get your podcast. Here's a link.

14:50 - "I'm stumped as to why there is a trust issue [between hunters, anglers and WDFW Commission]." - Lehmkuhl
John is a go-along, get-along, mealy-mouthed social chameleon. Nothing more. That was my impression of him when I worked with him on WDAC and nearly every time I listen to him at Commission meetings. It all depends on who is in the room and who might challenge him on any given topic. World's biggest birds-and-butterfly lover when he's around Koontz/Regan/Smith/Rowland/Baker preservation-types, and claims to be a "hunter" (but only chases a few birds every year as far as we know) when he sits down with hard-core hunters.
Notice how he completely sidestepped the specific facts of the Spring Bear hunting issue and how he voted and why he voted contrary to WDFW's own biologist's recommendation to retain the season.
Then, reflect on his unhinged hostile rant at the end of one of the Commission meetings when he absolutely went off on the hunting community to "go and hire professional biologists to come up with a study that would provide a scientific rationale for re-instating the spring bear season".
Hey Lamekuhl...WDFW's OWN PROFESSIONAL BIOLOGISTS - THAT WE AS HUNTERS ARE ALREADY PAYING FOR, URGED YOU TO APPROVE THE SPRING BEAR HUNT! How could we possibly trust your decision-making process if we, as hunters, funded a study that might (or might not) find that the spring bear hunt is a good tool...when you don't even believe your own bios.

Absolutely trying and emphasis on trying to chameleon. The truth is he will always channel Kohler, Allen and Wielgus. Maybe shield beausoleil a little more than other commissioners.
