Guess the title kinda says it all, but i was wondering what the legality of using a crossbow for damage control deer is? In my mind, it should be fine, as theyre modern firearm tags and crossbows are legal in modern season, but also its not really modern firearm season, its its own tag and there really isnt a season on it. Hell, i dont even know if id do it as its pretty hard to beat a rifle, but would also be kinda fun to shoot one with a crossbow if i had the chance

I draw and fill a 2nd tag in the San Juan’s almost every year, and mostly use a crossbow if I end up over there during the firearm season due to weapon restrictions and hippy neighbors. It’s a solid weapon if you need to reach a little farther than you can with a bow and you still need to stay quiet. If you expect shots inside 50 yards, just practice with a bow. If you don’t need to stay quiet, use a rifle or shotgun.
Crossbows should count as a muzzleloader :twocents:
