I am one of those people that mosquitoes love to bite. This year I am hunting the archery season instead of the rifle season and so was looking for something to prevent mosquitoes from biting. I came across thermacell as an option but saw that it uses scent to repel mosquitoes. Do deer ever spook at this scent?

Used one during spring bear without a problem

I wonder the same thing. I’m not sure how the deer would perceive the scent meaning threat or not. My guess would be a deer wouldn’t connect the scent with a predator instinctual like. It might learn the smell is connected to human presence.
On a side note I think I’ve products that use the same heating mechanism and pads that produce attractant scents

They have earth scented pads you can get.

This was discussed on Rokslide recently. I believe the consensus is that they don't. I'll be carrying mine more often, especially turkey season. They work.

Thank you guys for the help! I’ll look into those earth scent pads.

If a deer can smell the thermacell then it’s smelling you

Even with thermacell, hunt the wind.

They don't spook the deer around our house, but then again, not much does.

Exactly!!

:yeah: Absolutely use them if needed because if they smell that they've already winded you. Scent killers are a money making gimmick, btw.
