Title: Colonel Bob Wilderness
Post by: AKBowman on June 04, 2009, 05:59:14 PM
I was wondering if anyone had ever hunted Colonel Bob Wilderness or surrounding area? Would it be worth the time to invest in scouting up there? Thanks.

I have spent a lot of time in there if you are devoted and willing to spend some time you will get a great animal.

Be aware of the antis who hike through there. They are not that pleasant.

If you start at Petes Creek you will see a few less people then the Quinault side.  I haven't been up there in a long time.  Used to be a lot animals around that area when the Forest Service logged.

I have never had one get agressive with me.  They just look away when you pass by...

I'm not an expert, but I believe most of the wilderness is in elk area 6064.  That is open to Master Hunters only during most of the elk seasons.

Not so.

Elk Area 6064 is basically along the valley floor. The Wilderness area starts partway "up the hill" and is open to anyone.

You would have to be either a brave SOB or a stupid SOB to get lippy with a guy with a gun when you're not armed.  Since hippies aren't known for their courage I guess it's the later of the two. :chuckle:  Stupid hippies.

Not the first time I've heard something like that in that area.
