I'm trying to convince my wife we should do one of the buffalo " hunts" at one of the ranches, and it sounds like she might be on board. Any recommendations on a good place to go?

I also considered doing this if I didn't shoot an elk. I think it depends on how much of a hunt you want, but they have Bison farms that allow shoots even in North Idaho.
Based on my prelim research a young bull or couple year old cow, both primarily meat choices, are ~$3500 to drive out in a field and shoot one. Butchering is on you. Big mature bulls are in the neighborhood of $7k at most places.
How much of a hunt you get out of it is really the differentiating factor and how wild you feel while you're doing it. I think that aside, this is pretty much the environment you're looking at, its then how far do you want to drive to do the deed and do you want to spend more to stay the night in their "hunting" lodge.

Note: Many of you know, but Cutbank and Browning Montana and some areas in Northern Minnesota argue with each other for who has the coldest spot in the lower 48.
A Buffalo hunt on the rez at Browning could be brutally cold in January.
BTW, I drove thru' the rez in Oct. and there are a lot of Buffalo there.

Four Aces Ranch in Madras Oregon has Buffalo hunts on their 5500 square acre ranch. Get in touch with Caleb (owner). We take the youth down there for our ‘Lil Titans’ hunts, great place for that type of experience. I believe he has trophy and ‘management’ bulls, any weapon, and no tags or license needed.

He might have some cheaper bulls now, but he wanted $7500 for the bulls he had in July when we took the kids down for the SCI youth hunt.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I will take a look at all of them. I kind of like the Montana route. I've got some family out there so I could make it into a fun vacation.

This place does it a little different.

@bearpaw
Thank you!
We are located one hour from Missoula Montana. Cost is based on how old the bison are, each year adds to the cost of raising them, except our cows are the same price young or old. The best meat is the yearlings, the cows, and the 2 or 3 year bulls. The best mounts are 4 year or older bulls, but plenty of guys shoulder mount cows too, they do have horns just not as large as bulls.
Arrive at 9am, we will hunt that day, one night accommodations are included, depart the next morning. Butchering and taxidermy are available locally or take it all home with you. Call/Text Dale: 208-852-6494
Size________Price
Yearling.........$2500
Cow..............$3500
2 Year Bull.....$3950
3 Year Bull.....$4950
4 Year Bull.....$5950
5 Year Bull.....$6950
Older bulls available at times, I think we have 1 or 2 about 10 years old, those are pretty rare!
